Regarding Heat

I''m sure every player has reached this point:

You don't have enough fire crystals. In order to get more, you need to either get more crystals from levels or get more money (also achieved by going through levels). As you go through the levels, your equipment will be fully heated. However, since you don't have the fire crystals to forge your equipment, they just end up staying at full heat as you get more heat from that moment on.

So, what happens to the heat when your equipment is fully heated?

...Nothing. The heat would just dissipate and be useless.

What I'm proposing is this:

Make an alternative use for heat so that every player would benefit.

How?

Maybe make the extra heat (via some container device or not) convert into energy. Or incorporate this idea with minerals. I feel someone has already suggested something like this before.

Just make some use for heat besides heating equipment.

You mean like battle sprites.

Something besides battle

Something besides battle sprites. Sure, they currently use 3 out of the 5 minerals that exist, but when you max them out, the heat would still go nowhere and your pet(s) won't take any material aside from the reset star.

Well, how about this:

Instead of the Forge being mandatory for leveling, we can have two choices for leveling. The first is the forge. Unlike how it is now, we'd be able to use it whenever as a faster (sort of), secondary option in case the other one would take too long.

The second would be just basic heating, like before the Battle Sprite update. However, we can't leave it at the same rate because then items would level too fast, forge would be obsolete, etc. Instead it would take more heat than currently to level up gear, about enough for one to have to decide whether they want to grind heat or use crystals.

Now for how they would play out with eachother. Most of how the two options would correspond with one another was already explained (not being a lot, really). If one were to use the forge and have a gear successfully upgraded, then any heat it has gathered will be lost, like alchemizing (that's not even a word I don't think) into a new weapon.

How about "reforging"?

I feel like I've made this suggestion before, but how about every time a piece of gear reaches max heat, players can choose to "reforge" that item. Reforging sets the heat back to zero, but reduces the required fire crystals needed by a percentage, let's say, 1/8th, or about 13%.

Now say you need 102 radiant fire crystals for that final level up at 100%, but don't have that many. Once you reach your next area where you can forge after reaching max heat, there will be an option to "reforge" your item in the forge menu. Your heat goes to zero, and you start to re-heat your item, and it needs the exact same amount of heat. But now for the lowest level of forging, you now need 30 fire crystals instead of 34, 60 instead of 68, or 90 instead of 102.
But Fangel, isn't that what you need for level 8-9?
Pretty much. The equation I used was (Fire Crystals Needed * 0.875), rounded up. This would be constant, so the next time you forge this same 5* item, it will take 27, 53, 79 for each fire crystal, and so on. For a 9-10 level 5* item, it would take 27 reforges to reduce the radiant level up cost to 1 radiant for the lowest percentage. That is a lot of heat.

Now for a bit of balance, every time you try to forge and fail using this system, it will either reset all the reforges or go back a few levels. Say you've reforged 7 times. You fail a forge, and now your reforge level is set back to 2. Instead of 41 radiants needed for a 100% forge, now you're back up to 79.
Heck, the percent change of success could even dwindle so that the percent chance can go down by 10% max for all forges. (This means after your tenth forge, the 100% chance will be a 90% chance. But the chance remains 90% after your 20th reforge too.)

Players can either play it completely safe and just use their fire crystals in large quantities, or they can reforge and game the system a bit, but must put more effort into these reforges.

Also, modify the heat amplifiers so that they increase the percent chance of all forges by 10%. These can be used to bypass and effectively speed up the heating process massively.

@Sonosuke: Reverting back to the old heating system with a few tweaks? That could be easier for the staff (if they kept older game versions on hand).

@Fangel: Your idea is something I would actually enjoy and would motivate me to keep playing. It gives me the sort of feel I got from other MMOs where I would enjoy grinding.
