What do people do in-game nowadays?

Simple topic.

I tried to get back into the game, but I have forgotten what I used to do. Arcade? Boss runs? I've tried that, but the motivation has greatly decreased. Marketing? Patience...Meh.

So, what do you do in-game nowadays as we all wait for the next "big" thing to happen? How does it keep you motivated, I guess, to keep playing?

I haven't been here for *that* long, only a year(1.6k hours~67days?), so not sure if this is the "greatest" slump the game has ever experienced or not. Is it? Let me know. I'd like to hear what you do and if this is actually, or not actually, the largest slump in the game thus far.

Have a nice day~

What I would do are pretige

What I would do are pretige missions, hang out in haven with friends, try to get new weapons and other gear, arcade, and occasionally put a bucket of snow or water in front of the auction house. I find it very fun doing these things :)

Play Lockdown. Watch Lockdown. Hear Lockdown. Talk Lockdown. Lockdown Lockdown.

Other times, a quick clockworks run or business / merching. To make it more fun, I like recording some of these events ;3

Not necessarily in that order.

Edit: IIRC last year there was a drought of no promos and updates. I can't recall when though. Getting different weapons for fighting styles is a way to go as well :x

it is the greatest slump

Need New Game Play Modes

We really just need a few different game modes to earn crowns. Arcade mode is fun but it can get boring after a while. Setting goals to craft charms or gear is great motivation. The Advanced Training Hall and Guild Training Hall can be fun to play in and it is good practice.

My favorite Clockwork areas in arcade mode are:

-Graveyards (Lots of fun killing skeleton zombies and lots of crowns)

-Gremlin Construct Areas (Usually small and doesn't take much time but still fun)

-Arenas (Challenging and pays lots of crowns)

Being a Guild Founder and Master is a challenging but fun job. It gives you motivation to work on improving your guild hall and designing rooms can be a lot of fun. Adding a Alchemy Room, Auction House Room, and many others is very rewarding. Everything is in one spot with little to no players around so no need to go to a packed lagging Haven area.

I grind for radiants or help others on their adventures occasionally, and then do something else with my time like watch TV shows and lets plays of other games. I don't really enjoy the grinding much. I used to enjoy it a lot more when I was actually acquiring items and having a good time, but I already have all of the weapons and I can't make any more armor because I have most of that and just need to heat it. Danger rooms were fun for a while but now they aren't... like I recently did the gun puppy danger room with only haze bombs and ended up not even losing my ER. Its all just so predictable.

Whenever people question the things I say, or whenever I question the things I say because I am an idiot that contradicts herself and am therefor innately wrong, I test them out for a while. Like when Skepticraven said that I was wrong and that shard bombs were good, I started bringing shard bombs on my runs. I am still bringing shard bombs all of the time and I still haven't found what she was trying to tell me.

I used to enjoy meeting the humans that join the game sometimes, but I know that the humans aren't real and it takes all of the fun out of meeting them. Meeting them is like meeting a cross between a car and a box of chocolates- its full of surprises and small parts that work strangely well with each other, but in the end its all still just a mechanical experience and no matter what surprises you're given you know that someone somewhere put them together like that, and that in the end everything about them doesn't matter because I am to them as they are to me. Even if it weren't so, they'd leave the game eventually just like all the others. Most of the humans don't even want to talk to me anyway.

Sometimes I log in and just kind of stare blankly at the items in the auction house. That's always nice. But that's about all I do. Or did.

For me, occasionally:
* Danger arcade
* Danger everything
* Danger missions
* Danger room

Otherwise I would:
- Accompany new and old players in clockworks and missions.
- Alphabetize lists
- Donate to my small guild.
- Farm for elite orbs & sparks when it is possible.
- Forget the details of those very plans.
- Get invited to random missions.
- Get redirected to forum affairs briefly.
- Initiate random conversations.
- Loiter or Lurk (I am not talented enough to do both at once).
- Make forum posts relating to the game.
- Make friends out of quick-silvers.
- Make friends out of strangers.
- Make self-imposed challenges.
- Meet strange acquaintances.
- Meet strangers and make acquaintances.
- Plan for my next adventure on Cradle.
- Propose challenges to others in game.
- Read forum posts.
- Repeat missions for tokens.
- Respond to some forum topics.
- Retire once I have run out of time to do some of the above.

Well yea but after you beat them 3-4 times, the shadow lairs just kind of become a costly hassle that you don't want to mess with unless someone else is doing the messing and you're just there to tag along for the free radiants. I'd rather just run whatever arcade gate ends in not compounds.

I save up crowns for silver keys to open iron lockboxes, and search for arenas, treasure vaults/graveyards and sometimes danger rooms. I also wander around Haven sometimes, and buy energy via the exchange and spend it on crafting and sometimes sparks of life.

Time to throw honesty at the table

I just play the game as a way to use up my free time, honestly. It's sort of brainless by now, but unfortunately I'm a sucker for making numbers grow, no matter how insignificant they are.

I don't think I have ever really played the game as most other people recommend, as I have never found that gameplay all that "fun". Completely obliterating enemies with a brandish doesn't make me have fun, however mindlessly smashing things with a hammer is pretty fun.

I do have a concept for a really fun setup for a team in that all players are designated to using only items that relate to a certain damage type. Someone could have only shadow defense and shadow weapons, another would have only elemental defense and elemental weapons, etc., and this team would transverse the entire clockworks from 0 to 29 using these items. It would really make for some forced teamplay when encountering a level that's resistant to your damage type, however just about every weapon type has a "what's resistant damage?" weapon(See: Brandishes, sealed swords, and blitz needle), so they would still be helpful to the team in that sense.

I suppose I have fun by challenging myself normally and actually being pretty terrible at offense unless it's against slimes. I shamelessly spam my acheron at slimes.

I've recently found other

I've recently found other things that have taken my attention:
- learning a language
- playing BL2 with different groups of friends who have surprisingly started to get into it.

So I'm starting to disconnect a bit from SK, (at least til they get tired of BL2 and go to a game I don't have), but here's what I've been doing when I log on:
- I play LD, but my most recent escapades have been about playing with and letting people see the horrors of Callahan teams before the gunner update happens
- I join random/public parties for FSC/Arcade.
- FSC: gunless runs (and mainly using Rigadoon for Vana)
- FSC: speed runs when alone/with friends, because killing monsters feels like a chore.
- Playing arcade with randoms who aren't endgame is actually kind of exciting. It kind of takes me back to how it felt to be able to progress in the game lol. I played random T1 a while back and ran into the most excited/hyper girl I've ever played SK with, and it kind of rubbed off on me for a bit XP

edit:

tl;dr:
play with more callahan, it's hilarious

Glad to see what some people do from what I used to play for. I agree with Fez. After you do all the SLs a few times each, they too get tedious. Arcade S6 is where all the fun is, speed running through S5 gets annoying though.

Until then something better happens... 'Tis a waiting game.

It's a waiting game if you made it a waiting game :3 I don't play LD as much as you think just to satisfy my boredom...I've always tend to help the weak (A.k.a my weaker guildmates) to finish their missions, and their thanks make me smile everytime :D The point is that you can do something helpful so you can get less bored...

@Pandafishie I really haven't been on much lately. SK has yet to add some serious content to the game, and since I don't care for costumes or spending $30+ on each promo they dish out, I've pretty much switched to a new game (that has WAY better PvP). I of course will keep logging on to see if anything new happens, but for right now I'm just on standby I guess.

As much as I love SK, at a certain point, everything just becomes a bit predictable. Especially Clockworks, you really start to see the pattern of how the level designs are laid out. But I think LD, SLs, grinding FSC for an ungodly amount of hours, random Clockwork runs, and earning money from the AH, are what most endgame players do. I've gotten pretty much all the equipment I wanted in the game, and I don't like grinding FSC, so I usually just do LD now. In LD, people usually aren't too predictable so its refreshing from the Clockwork runs I do from time to time. But I do like running through T3 in my proto stuff from time to time :)

Other than that, help the guild out, help other players out, or just stand around in Haven o_o

I play FF14 these days

Interestingly, the PVP there is just as broken.

Fortunately, FF14 still updates regularly, and there is lots of content for me to do. Once SK updates, i'll come back to it, play the new stuff, play more LD, and then slowly fade away until the next update.

I won't stop playing, I'll just reduce the amount of time I spend in SK.

xD yes me and RIFT, wish I could have seen the game when it first came out. The Exceeds have started a branch there, which is growing quite well, and I'm one of the officers. The pvp, and actually overall game content and mechanics, are sooo much better than SKs. So much so, I feel like it is unfair to compare the two games, because RIFT is on another level and quite different from SK.

Dont get me wrong, SK is a great game with alot of potential, but problems like slow game content updates and pvp being unbalanced kinda hurts the game. I know Three Rings is aware of this, but it doesn't seem like they are urgent to fix it. Which is why, in the meantime, players like myself switch to other games. But I feel confident that the future for SK looks bright, its just gonna take some time.

Edit: And yes, even some aspects of the pvp in RIFT are unbalanced *cough Healers cough*, just shows how hard it is to make sure everything works with everything else in a game
