Thanks for awesome events like this that can only join [scrapping] donators
Thank you very much, Developers!
2500 cr isnt that much honestly. when im going to hunt materials for the key, i go in group so everyone gather materials, and also CR. so we get enough mats for keys along with the cr needed to craft it. you only are just a lazy player who want to get everything without doing or giving something in return.
also you CANT jump the word filter so change that unless you want to get a warn or ban from a GM.
There are two ways to do this:
Collect your own glyphs and have people pay you to craft IDs
Run snarby missions really fast and collect 2k real easy
after this you can rage about getting killed by tortos 8-9 times and only getting 1-2 mats
I honestly don't understand what they were thinking.
-"The community wants new content and weapons they can play with!"
-"Yes! We shall release new content, but make it available for 1 week only and only for those who can grind!"
I mean, new content is good and all, but after so much waiting why limit and make it event only? Come on, you have to agree that doesn't make sense.
Is Spiral Knights your first MMO? Events are something that every good MMO has, SK has few events in comparison to others and theirs are all yearly, that means if you miss one it will be back next year (prize boxes are different but those items still get released in AH from time to time). I have played games that have an event for a short period of time and then it never comes back, EVER! Be glad SK is not like that.
The community has been begging for new content for a very long time.
What's the logical course of action? Release new content for all year round, or create an even with exclusive content for 1 week?
What's the logical course of action? Don't play. Guns are a piece of [chicken]
>What's the logical course of action? Release new content for all year round, or create an even with exclusive content for 1 week?
No, do the samey events again and release new promos to milk every penny from spiral knaves.
Seriously though, the gunner update has been delayed for almost a whole year. If the devs actually focused on that or on other, more important things, instead of releasing new promos almost every two weeks they probably would had the gunner update ready by now.
@megawatt
Do you think that OOO is just 3 people and when they do a promo everything they're working on just stops and the promo is the most important thing? If you do, this slow clap is for you *clap, clap, clap,*
There are different teams for different things. There is an art team and the actual content team. So it's not like they drop everything to put some palate swaps.
Pretty sure it's 6 people (the live ops section in the about tab in game). If it was a larger team one would most likely have seen more stuff over the past year. Their lead artist is listed under the live ops section next to the engineers, so tell me if I'm wrong.
@petater
I didn't say that OOO is a million people, I said swaping color palattes or adding some accessories doesn't require everybody on OOO. So they're not stopping the gunner update to make a promo, they're just taking their time which I don't mind since I play other games and im sure you do too.
EDIT: I've been looking at some threads and every post you've made is negative towards OOO so if you don't have something nice to say don't say it my good sire.

You assume it's only the artist and the modeller who gets to work on the "hats", but it's not true. The programmers also need to put the stuff into the game and ensure it won't mess up with the other stuff. While one can argue that it doesn't require much time to do that, it's still resources spent on making worthless cosmetics than working on more important stuff for the game.

This is true though, OOO could use more workforce. Maybe they could get things done in time that way.
That's not how forums on the internet work, explicitly when the company tells its users it wants both positive and negative feedback. Honestly that comment above in this thread isn't entirely negative. What it means is they're not Blizzard, so don't expect WoW level updates.

Depending on how they set things up, they can have non-programmers (from what I've seen, designers and technical artists tend to know what to do) set that up then request to have the game recompiled with the new assets in while throwing in some bugfix so they have patch notes.
:P
The rule of thumb is generally if the thing acts differently (mechanics/behavior changes), it's programmer work (ex: tortodrone guns with their melee-combo and the falling projectiles + their bump mechanics). If it's cosmetic, it's generally artist work. If it's placing existing pieces around (ex: level design, stat tweaking), that's designer work. Go take a look at the test feedback forum and you'll see that some of the changes are behavioral/mechanics changes, and a good chunk are more to do with the stat tweaks (which is something designer-heavy).
Go look at the promos and do you see any behavioral changes? Nope? Then no, it probably doesn't require their programmers to do much.
And from OOO's point of view, those "worthless cosmetics" are great. Players will always want to express themselves and assert their individuality blah blah, and that's why people actually pay money for cosmetics. Income for 'lighter' work that they can finish ahead of time? Awesome.
But I'll turn the premise on you:
If the programmers (who work on behavioral changes) AREN'T working on features and its been established that they aren't all too needed to make normal promos (cosmetic promos) and OOO is money grubbing, what ARE they working on during the day?
If they're not doing anything and OOO is money-grubbing, they would have been fired for being leeches.
This doesn't necessarily excuse them for taking a while (but hey, the tortodrone gun is already a peek into some of the gunner update features - no walk speed penalty tweaks and charge-based gameplay), but at the same time, talking as if the programmers aren't working on actual features/fixes is naive.

But like he said, sure we're getting events (and the additional events over the past year have been getting progressively cooler), but for people who are inactive or are starting to lose interest in the game, a temporary event won't really do much to bring them back :\
If anything, I feel like the events (since they're more likely to be tied to a calendar schedule) are more likely to take resources away from permanent content features, but I kind of enjoy those, however short lived they are.
The crown fee is a drop in a bucket compared to the Spark of Life fee...
English pls.
Enjoy your ban btw, well deserved for being so disrespectful to people who just brought some sweet new guns.
