The fog effect, wich is present in some posion strata, firestorm citadel, the new snarbolax levels and some other levels too, is the major cause of FPS dropdown as I can tell. Please, please allow an option to disable it. It's a minor change (I assume, if not correct me please) that would greatly improve the performance on some not-so-powerful computers.
Let us disable fog

effects in general, when I'm trying to play on my laptop (3GB ram c2d2.8!!) snow and fog destroy my FPS.
Oh yes please.
Any level with fog completely murders my FPS.
