it's very small.

Why is that size even an option? Who makes monitors that small? I thought most stores carry minimum 1366x768
By the way, how can there be "no recent event activity"?
everyone is secretly a ghost.
ooooooooo spoOOOoooky.
real answer: it takes a second to fetch activity.
Now set it to 1920x600 on an hd TV. Then play LD and tell me if any striker catches you by surprise from the left or right anymore.
I play on 1024x600. Why? I play in windowded mode (and have things on the side - usually music/chat/one of my data collection). Native screen resolution is 1360x768. I sometimes swap out of the resolution for things like apocrean graveyards.
I also find it interesting that aspect ratio plays a factor in the visual lag. Chose an aspect ratio that is not display native and the performance drops quickly.
@Skeptic
It probably has some built-in functions which depend on the system ratio, and don't check for the current ratio.
Also, devs, can't you make the HUD scale a bit on lower resolutions? It's fine when you blow up the resolution, but it sucks if you're windowing the game.
Play sk with resolution set to 800x600. After a while your eyes slowly get used to it.
I play windowed 1024x768. I went through the list looking for which resolution gave me the widest view range. It's just a couple blocks or so, but I just felt like doing it.
How small is your monitor that the "widest view range" you can get is 1024 pixels?
@Skepticraven
I play that way as well, along with the full size aspects.
IMO, I don't find it TOO small, but just the UI is just... too big? It makes everything look off in comparison to its size. Also, netbooks (mini laptops), have that exact ratio of 1024x600. But, I don't think it's possible to run SK on those since their processors are so small.
I refuse to believe a commercially available 6000 pixel wide monitor even exists...
I don't think they do.
However, 4k does in fact exist.
Y so big?
Why you'd play sk on anything higher than 1980x1600 is just insanely overkill and unnecessary.
He plays on three monitors, he a made a thread about it a while back
But then you have big gaps between the picture.
Also I'm skeptical that any games even SUPPORT 6k.
As for 4k, yes, it's becoming the new UHD standard. However, the screens themselves aren't any bigger. Kind of like comparing HD to CRT (Standard Definition?).
@Batabii
You can actually change the screen resolution manually for this game in the registry (for windows) or java resource file (for unix-based).
There's still old monitor left that are 800X600 sadly....
And I play in 1024 X 768 in windowed mode because of Diablo II that had the resolution 800 X 600 windowed (and 680 X 400 as option, mind you) that got introduced in patch 1.11 and was THE BIGGEST thing ever.
6 years of gaming D2 later, it's an old habit so 1024 X 768 feels like the nostalgia of 800 X 600 D2 had... and it's quite nice for ARPG to play that way IMO, it's just standard now for me.
4k = take your pixel and chop it in quarter. It's not actually more pixels... it's more definition IN your pixel
I can select 6000*1080 in the drop down of resolutions in game for triple screens. No modifying the registry required. Also, the extra 120 pixels (on each side) in between the monitors is to correct for the bezel gaps, allowing the picture to actually look reasonable to me instead of straight cut and strange. I can provide a picture if you'd like to see what I see.
You know what? Click if you want. http://i.imgur.com/9npYMFt.jpg
That's on 5960*1080. Still needed a bit of tweaking.
It's slightly overkill for PvE, but it's ridiculously overpowered in lockdown. I can see the entire map when standing at the bottom center. (usually)
To add, multiple games I've played either actively support triple screens or support the resolution.
Planetside 2
iRacing
Race07
rFactor
Team Fortress 2
Assetto Corsa
Trackmania2 Stadium
Trackmania United
More that I can't remember
Besides the obvious "overkill for pve", I can't help but notice that the side monitors are pretty much useless in that screenshot :P
Also wouldnt showing that much of the world at much get buggy? I mean what's the draw distance or whatever? how far away are enemies still rendered? More res = more FOV and I would expect there to be a limit regardless of how much monitor space you have
Well of course it's going to be useless in the waiting room.
The FoV is the exact same as a normal 1920*1080 resolution on the center monitor. It does get a little distorted on the side screens, but enemies render completely across all screens. Effects do as well.
Also, I bought the three monitors for iRacing purposes, but I figure why not put them to use in SK? Just for giggles.
Edit: I'll show a bit more gameplay-ish screenshot later. It's great for calling out enemies in LD to people in ventrilo.
I used to be able to play in 1600 x 900 windowed mode on the client as of October, 2016. Then I reinstalled the SK client in early November, and I have NOT been able to play at 1600 x 900 windowed mode anymore because that resolution is now available only in full screen mode. Why would you do this?
1600 x 900 windowed mode was the perfect size for me on my iMac.
If you launch the game in windowed mode, you can click and drag the edges to resize it to however you like.
At least, that's what's been done since the grey havens acquisition on windows. Pretty sure you can do it on mac too. Give it a shot!
so... set your screen resolution higher?
