Vile

Vile Striker is better, the added damage to beast isn't worth the lower damage to everything else, while it may look cool isn't as effective as a Vile Striker. If you really dislike beasts, get a piercing sword since It will do more damage than a Wild Hunting Blade, and be more effective against fiends.

Seconded. Chance to poison +

Seconded. Chance to poison + more damage to non-beasts trumps the alternative every time.

Vile Striker. Though, I did swap out my VileStriker for an Acheron....

If you're not as concerned

If you're not as concerned with poison, then the Wild Hunting Blade is a good choice. It looks AWESOME and does a decent amount of damage, plus I find the bonus to beasts to be more useful than was mentioned in the above posts.

The downside that I found is that the bite attack for the blade almost never hits the enemy unless it is cornered or stunned.

Oh well I like it nonetheless,

Vile Striker >>> Hunting Blade

The Vile Striker and Hunting Blade do equal damage to everything but beast. Hunting Blade does approximately 20% additional damage to beasts, it varies by strata.

I have both, and find that occasionally poisoning creatures is more useful than doing additional damage to one monster type, particularly beasts. Wolvers are really easy once you learn their attacks. Chromalisks are silly easy, same with Snarby. Also, if you wanted a sword that'll work better specifically for wolvers, get a flourish and spam charge attacks.

As a bonus, Vile Striker is great for Jelly King.

Going by aesthetics alone, the Wild Hunting Blade is pretty sweet. Both blades have an issue with the second swipe not connecting, have to get really close or corner/freeze your opponent to connect.

How often does the poison

How often does the poison actually poison things? I know the Faust almost never (MAYBE 1 or 2 out of every 30ish swings) curses enemies, and if I'm not mistaken the Vile Striker has a smaller chance to poison then the faust does to curse. So is it a viable effect?

Each swing has a small chance

Each swing has a small chance to inflict poison, but you make many more swings per second than with a faust. If you just keep striking, something will typically be poisoned every few seconds.

Although the Vile Striker is definitely the better of the two, don't get your hopes too high. I started with the Cutter line from the get-go, but it's stopped impressing me. Weak damage compared to other swords, rare to get a full combo off, and the VS hardly EVER poisons in my experience. I'll get one, maybe two procs a floor...from a weapon whose highlight is its poison proc.

After all that work, I feel rather let down. Has anyone else fared better with the VS?

vile striker is effective on

vile striker is effective on jelly king... thats pretty much it. cutter line needs some love, damage-wise. it needs to have a projectiley type poison inducing needle thing for the charge. the charge is good in the rare occasion you can use it properly.

afaik wild hunting blade has a different swing pattern than venom striker and a lot of people are great at using the WHB combo to get around in a fight without taking damage.
