So does this new boss offer any piercing damage for us to resist to? it is pretty much almost all spike attacks, so it would seem logical. We need more piercing type mobs...
piercing damage
its T1, all damages are normal
Snarby had a bug that was allowing his Tier 2 damage to show up in Tier 1. After our next bugfix he'll be doing all normal damage in Tier 1.
As for making special damage types more pronounced, we're definitely going to be making some changes that address the lack of piercing damage in the game. Slime and beast family monsters should be inflicting it more in lower stratums later on. Hurray?
Good to hear it! thanks for the info nick
nooo...I want to keep laughing at slimes D:
I don't know if I should be worried when the devs end their response with a question mark :P
Sounds good nick!
At first, when I read this thread, I thought it was referring to the lack of monsters that deal piercing. Nevertheless, this still holds true, making shields and armor with elemental defenses much more useful than those with piercing defenses.
This I look forward to. As it stands, jelly sets are goddamn useless for anything except maybe sponging up stunning monsters like Lumbers, which is a shame because full jelly is quite fun.
If Tier 1 Bosses and Tier 2 bosses were interchangable? For example, the next gate that hosted the Jelly King, the Royal Jelly Palace was in levels 5-7 instead of 15-17. Conversely, the Gloaming Wildwoods could then be Tier 2 from time to time. This is almost certainly never to happen, not because I don't think Jelly King would would be harder to balance in T1, (just make him spawn less jellies) but more because the balancing of items you get with those boss tokens would require a larger adjustment. Mostly I thought of this idea because I'd love to try a Tier 2 difficulty Wildwoods. However, if there were two Tier 1 and two Tier 2 bosses, being able to swap them between Tiers would make for some interesting variety for new and experienced players as well as lead to more flexible gate construction options. You can't add Tier 3 Bosses into this mix though, because Tier 3 dungeons have an extra level to them; and I don't think Vanaduke should ever been seen at a lower Tier. The leap in difficulty from Tier 2 to Tier 3 is quite pronounced.
Anyway, like I said. Exceedingly unlikely, but a neat thought.
Personally... I think Snarby should be allowed to deal some piercing damage. Lets face it, if you're a tier 1 player and you're up to fighting Snarby then you're about to move to tier 2 anyways. It gives a taste of whats to come.
On the piercing damage from enemies... ABOUT TIME! I look forward to a bigger challenge from them.

Am I to understand this means he might show up in T2?
My partner, however, did show yellow damage bars. God bless the jelly set.
It's ironic, because Snarb gets a hiding from rapiers and piercing weapons.
And agreed, more piercing mobs are supported.
