What gives? Its not like ID cards are hard to get, and only 1/4 needs one...it's like nobody on the entire game wants ancient shells.

I'm playing literally right now. And I shouldn't HAVE to ask. Someone should be hosting/joining at all times.
My response in zone was referring to this.
FYI, there are 2 parties in the finder at the time of this post.

Seems legit.
What do you expect? None of my friends or guild are ever online :( I have no choice but to play with randoms.
Also it's funny how some people act like I'm the only one who can't beat them, then suddenly I say I do randoms and they change their tune.
Well I mean it also depends on what difficulty you start the party on. I started a random party on elite aka "suicidal" and it took about 30 min for someone to join. But then I started a party on normal, that was an instant join. After that I started making random parties on advanced, at most waited about 2 min.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I've had absolutely no desire to run the mission this time around after the previous incarnation put me (seemingly permanently) into a single-digit SoL count. It's one big lag-inducing attack-spam cluster****, and the payment system is rife with abuse when you're forced to go with pick-up groups. Thanks but no thanks.
@Pdtopgun
I can totally understand that lol. The mission is pretty ridiculous and its like its mandatory to die at least once. When its all over I always feel like 8 rocket puppies will pop out and start firing as the party runs to the elevator.
Normal is for noobs. Normal hardly pays any ancient shells at all. I once got 6 in a single elite run. I know people say it's more cost effective to do normal if you spend more than 6 sparks on a single run, but my average is 3, and I refuse to buy Sols anyway. I'd rather do less runs.

I feel bad when I use 2 SoL on a single torto run... with decent player I can get it sparkless but it's an endless polaris chase.
I don't get why people play normal at all, the payout for elite is worth it and doesn't add much difficulty TBH... and I want to run tortodrone but all my guildmates ALREADY have their stuff so I'm left alone behind -_-
Elite can yield 6 ancient shells, worth 3 bad normal run... how is that counter productive?
Rare is it that I use sparks in missions. And when I do, it is often to help teammates. For me that is better than letting them pile.
As for finding elite parties, I discuss it with friends, familiar faces, and strangers in haven first. And the payment is arranged upon entering the lobby. So sometimes getting a working party suggests HAVING to ask or recruit. You have access to the community. So if you have no choice but to run with strangers, why not expedite the process by reaching out to that community of "randoms"?
Reaching out for an elite party beats getting a quickly formed party for a normal run, right? If not, RIP Batabii's efforts of outreach.
What time where you playing? I got people joining many people flocking into the first party I created.
You could have tried asking around Haven...
