This is a legitimate question that I started asking someone and was specifically brought up about this thread: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/103181
How many of you when you were a much younger knight was told by someone else "do not use that weapon, it sucks" and looking back now, would you have kept that weapon and used it?
This is something that's bothering me and I don't know if it's the right thing or not. To get it started; I myself was never told a weapon sucked up until Vanaduke (which was really my first public party) in which I was often kicked for using a Leviathan Blade.
The question in general for those oldbies: Is it specifically wrong to note on what weapons are good and bad to newer players who actually ask? Shouldn't we let them explore and rather than saying "that weapon is awful" why not help support them with it?
Huh... I remember hearing Leviathan was good way back when. I guess I would've gone with that instead of the Cold Iron Vanquisher, but I was and still am quite fond of the CIV's design and often opt to use that over the Leviathan anyway. Other than that, the only "bad" weapon I used as a new recruit was the Cutter, and I was having a blast with it. Heck, when I made it into a Vile Striker it used to rip the Royal Jelly apart before they made him start knocking you back. Granted, at that point I had already moved on to Fang of Vog and the Dark Retribution, whenever that came out, so I wouldn't really know how good the Vile Striker is against him nowadays.
The only other thing would be perhaps moving over to Fallen or Vog Cub earlier than I did, as I had instead opted for the Chaos set (oh, the days before the massive buffs) and my silly combination of Divine Veil with Deadshot Mantle.
Otherwise, I was actually decently decked out and had good ideas for what to use as a newcomer.
