At least by the time they're added you should have 8600-ish which is enough to fully feed your sprite your sprite food.

They can be used in prestige
They can be used in prestige donations - Monstrous reach or who knows whats in store for the future.

Stockpile.
Keep them, you will need them for geological survey.
And maybe in the year 2016, you can feed them to new battle sprite.
