Well, I've deleted my character and started over.

I felt dirty after a while for doing an RMT (real money transaction) for the Battle Pack. Generally, even though these games confer nice bonuses for paying customers and can even sometimes be P2W (Pay to Win), recently I've started feeling like the idea of giving yourself an advantage by just paying for it is unfair and takes the fun out of the game.

So I'm starting over, and this time I will not be making any sort of real money purchase for CE or anything else. At least my account remains a premium one since it has spent money in the past, so I retain paid account benefits at least, but I will not be buying CE or anything else from the market this time. I will survive and progress entirely on what I find and earn from missions and runs.

Move over, there's bubble-wrap to be popped!

That's harsh, deleting your character...

I feel it's the right thing

I feel it's the right thing to do, the fair thing.

My character wasn't all that far anyway. I had one 5* item (Sentenza), and a mix of 3* and 4* gear on the side. I didn't really have any money, CE (spent it on orbs) or sparks left anyway.

I still feel good about what I did. I can play and enjoy the game the honest way now. I'll gain new appreciation for each piece of equipment that I upgrade.

Well, this is your choice.

I myself would never do something like this. I'm P2P and I'm just fine with saying that. I will never say how much or else the entire community may come rushing after my head, but I'm P2P.

I feel like deleting a paid character is the worst possible option. It would be best to leave that character alone, then just create a brand new one. No harm in that and you keep everything you earned/bought.

And you don't need to worry about paying for Orbs with Energy. Even though many people hate doing it, buying Orbs is actually the correct way to get them. In the past we crafted gear with energy which was exactly the same as Orb prices now. (A 5 star weapon required 800 Energy to craft, today a 5 star weapon costs 3 Eternal orbs equaling 800 Energy to craft.)

And it may just be me, but I think that grinding for my own gear takes fun out of the game. Yes, this is a highly unpopular opinion, but I'm the kind of person who would rather get an item right away than take a weak one through steps to eventually get it up to power.

Anyways, I hope you are fine with your decision. I myself would probably cry myself to sleep had I done this. Have fun!

I'm the opposite, I think

I'm the opposite, I think just buying your way to the top takes all the fun out of the game. I think it's more fun to actually EARN your equipment, farming the materials and earning the energy necessary to craft it, and I think you get a greater feeling of satisfaction knowing that you actually poured some hard work and effort into making that shiny new item instead of just shelling out a few dollars to have it instantly.

Or maybe, just maybe we can send money to the makers of the game so they can make new things for us and help provide it with a longer life. You know, actually supporting the game you all keep coming back to.

And if you're just a forum lurker who doesn't play the game well...your opinion is invalid. :D

You can find me in-game right

I'm an active player, I actually prefer to stay away from the forums generally because it lurks with trolls.

Not your personal blog. The

Not your personal blog.

The more "discussion based" thread this could have been would be "does anyone else feel dirty paying for a game?"

I think your stance is ridiculous. If you have money to spend, money that you've earned doing real life tasks, there's nothing dirty or shameful about helping the paychecks of the creators of a game you love to play. Which would you rather have, $5 worth of coffee IRL as a treat, or treating yourself to something in-game that actually has resale value and more than an hour's caffeine buzz?

I don't drink caffeinated

I don't drink caffeinated beverages, so this example is moot.

You make it sound as if I should be willing to spend money on these things if I want to play the game, and that trying to play the game without RMT's is detrimental to the game.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

You deleted your character because you paid for the developer's dinner?

Any reason you couldn't like....make a new character without deleting the old one?

RIP Plasmatech costumes.

Following the coffee analogy, I suppose a better example would apply under the pretext that someone would buy the coffee, but then promptly empties the content of its mug to waste on behalf of the customer not making the effort to warrant getting the coffee in the first place (e.g. grounding, brewing and adding the milk and sugar themselves). How do you think the employee(s), let alone the surrounding customers, would feel or comment about this?

My stance on the whole thing is that listening to reason and listening to morality are two sensibly different situations. But not one of them is necessarily the good or right option.
