I'm getting Audacity right now so I can convert some MP3's into the proper format to use them in this game to replace some of its music. Let's face it, the boss music in this game...well, it sucks. Most of the level music is fitting and the battle music is okay for the most part, but I was wondering what other music people replace it with, if any.

Was thinking about replacing my boss music with Heart of Fire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlBVOeFME7U

Or Samsara and Paramnesia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSONiY5Z7GU

Thoughts?

" Let's face it, the boss music in this game...well, it sucks."

That's an opinion. I personally love the boss theme! Especially the one that plays in Danger Missions.

I like all of the music in the game except for anything in FSC (excluding the boss theme). If I could change the music there, I'd change it to something that doesn't make me want to jump off the fortress.

Never. I play games with their original music like....99% of the time.

Also I think it's dumb that people would mute ALL the sounds in the game. I know this isn't exactly left 4 dead 2, but still, blocking out music is one thing, but blocking out voice chat AND sound effects not only makes it arguably harder to play effectively, but takes you out of the experience.

If I want to play my own music, I play Beat Hazard. Or don't play anything at all.

It's kind of modifying game files so idk if it's in your best interest to bring it up here lol.

A friend of mine replaced her vanaduke boss music with the Attack on Titan opening (full version), and it synched up pretty well with the boss fight. It was pretty intense.

I think she also replaced the gate win theme with the NES Mario flag theme. It synched up hilariously well with the slot animations at the end as well.

She did express frustration and shrugged it off as a fun experiment when all her changes reverted in the next patch.

Edit:
- Oh yeah, I think she also replaced the title theme and mini boss/situations with There Ain't no Rest for the Wicked to bring back BL1 vibes, and replaced the "TRAP!!" SFX with the "IT'S GUTSMAN!" SFX. Well worth it.

- Since OP has brought up castlevania music, I'd dare bring this up: Dracula Perfect Selection: Vampire Killer

well for:

Boss Battles (normal and SL ones): Decisive Battle - Final Fantasy 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4EP1AB1njg (love how this one works with all the bosses in this game like when snarby growls and then burrow at the ground or vanaduke about to hit his mace)

Danger Mission Boss Battles: Big Battle (Castlevania 3 and circle of the moon): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKHH98EBiJY
i liked castlevania III and Circle of the moon as the hardest castlevanias made, and i decided to use this for the bosses on danger missions fits pretty sweet.

OCH Levels: Magitek Factory - Final Fantasy 6: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/176237
well OCH music was fun the first 3 mins but once you start hearing that dramatic song over and over again get pretty tedious, but with this one i dont mind run OCH at all i find it fits pretty awesome in OCH too.

Normal Battles i use: Random Battle - Final Fantasy 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRGFrjXoi6U
i love how this one works once you step on the button lol

Normal battles 2 (like in tortodrone, fiend sometimes and cemetery etc): Boss theme (Guardian theme) - Jazz Jack Rabbit 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpteL_wilsA
I used to have Final Fantasy IV normal battles, but i decided to use this for now for tortodrone battles, make it so awesome with this one hehe, oh those were the good times at PC gaming.

Gloaming Wildwoods: Brambling Blast - Donkey Kong Country (rock remix): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TZSCp9lb-k
i used this by suggestion from a friend, i wanted one that sound like this because i wasnt so sure to use dark world from legend of zelda link to the past, because its kinda calmy and since SL gloaming wildwoods use this too then this won by default.

Fire Storm Citadel: Norfair Depths - Super metroid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYUbUe7ZK5E
lets face it, fits so damn well there and make it less boring lol.

And yes for Haven: Clock Town Day 1 - Legend of Zelda Majora Mask: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-Yyiyfk9Tk
fits also pretty sweet too

Oh man i must be sick...

I just mute the in-game music and listen to whatever is on [pandora internet radio].

This is why:

I usually start out with the in game music.

For beast levels, aurora isles, emerald axes, i keep the game music on

but of I do vanaduke or any other boss, nope. Game music OFF. I just turn on some monstercat or glitch mob and it wprks.

The game music is quite good and very fitting, but, as with anything, it gets extremely tiring to listen to after a certain number of times.

Their totally legit ToS does not allow modifing game files in any way.
But if you want to get some music in background, I suggest checking awesome Linkboy's channel with really good SK remixes.

Finally someone let me out of my cage

I usually just mute the audio and listen to a station on Pandora, usually Gogol Bordello, Man Man, Gorillaz, Squirrel Nut Zippers, or Mumford & Sons.

Honestly, I just mute the in-game music and play my own music. At a lower volume, of course, so that I can still hear the sound effects.

Although I have been considering swapping the music with Mario & Luigi: Dream Team music. Like Haven town theme with Shopping in Wakeport and the boss music with either Never Let Up or Size Up Your Enemy.

I roll with no game sound and the amazing Shovel Knight OST.
Either that, or the Monstercat Podcast.
