So when looking at the new promo, I noticed the price for 14 boxes, $49.99.

After seeing that, a thought popped in my head. Sure, games could offer special content for real money, but what drives a person to buy something for $50 or more? A prime example are some iOS or Android games. Who here spent $40+ on a game, particularly in one purchase?

Why would a person spend all that money on not a game, but content for the game? I mean, seriously. I remember one game on iOS that had you buy $30 worth of the "exclusive money" to get not 2, but 1 weapon. For a 1/5 of the game.

Idk, I mean, some ppl are attention whores, just look at how much money valve made off with TF2 hats, I never figured out why would anyone with any sanity want to make them feel unique, by putting a hat on his choice of 9 different male only playable characters.

I have a friend who is just like this, he loves cosmetic in games and always boast about it when it comes to things like this. For example in SK he had the love aura, and despite me already reached vangurad before him, he still bragged about his monster pocket and what not, of course, that ended when I got my very own hoptimer and a hat on the top of another hat. Which is very cool IMO.

I guess the gamer population, aside from gender and age, can be classified into two groups.

-People who play a game for what it is
Trait: stick to a game for a long time, try to master the game, participate in major event even if they do not give you any perk, rarely spend money on the game, unless it is for charity.

-People who play a game for themselves
Trait: frequently play a game but quickly burn out, spend moneys on perk and stuff, don't neccessarily good at the game just like to brag, push others to play the game too.

Some people just have money. If you can, and you want to, why not?

Ikr? Dj acts like people who spend money on this game are cancer. -_-

"some ppl are attention whores"

No need for name-calling. and they are more like people who feel like attention is a part of their life. -_-

Just let me clairfy, I said it is okay to give money away to support the game, I have no problem with that, I gave RL money to wikipedia so it can stay ad free, I like wikipdedia because it is a place where I can find out stuff about, well, stuffs. And if OOO showed me that they care about our opinion and don't just keep silent, I will donate some money too. But sadly, I see no incentive of giving away money if all I am getting are non gameplay altering item (costumes, I really have no use for them.)

Dj acts like people who spend money on this game are cancer. -_-

No, I never said once that ppl who spend money are cancer, that is just a horrible generalization. And yes, spending money is okay if you are doing it for the right reason.

But you are the one who always say that there is no right or wrong -.- u r a hypocrit midnight .

Am I now? What about that whiney 18 year old girl who scream at her parents every say to get a new skin on IMVU? You know that self entitled little brat doesn't deserve it.

And just for the record, ppl who spend money are in some way cancerous for this game. We have already seen them whined about their problems right here on this forum and I don't really need to call their names out. Maybe they don't affect SK as much as they did to games in general, but the impacts are there. How many game series have fallen from grace because of the ever demanding gamers and the need to appease the majority? Our fears of trying out new things killed off god knows how many original game ideas (Okami is a good example), so in that sense isn't every paying gamer potentially a small tumour themselves?

i agree. and i don't demand stuff. I'm one of those people who don't hate a game or dislike it. i have spent on something in this game before(and gave it to Noxiousnawhal for the raffled only.) but im not a tumor. not everyone is a small tumor themselves. only a lot of people XD. i love alot of games and i get bored of some but i like almost every game i play(the only one i didn't like was Monkey Quest. this is a rip-off of SK and it is horrible.)

Me, I have. Only on Spiral

Me, I have. Only on Spiral Knights, though. It's hard even getting me to spend $1.99 for some iOS apps in general, though I gotta admit that 10,000,000 and Super Hexagon were definitely worth it.

If you add up how much I've spent on SK as a whole, it's probably approaching $300 since its release in April 2011. A few dollars here and there, $20 for a promo, $40 on a promo I really liked (I would've spent $50 but I bought the $20 package before realizing I wanted more...)

It's not all that much different from paying $15 a month for something like Final Fantasy XIV or World of Warcraft or something. And it's nice knowing that it's optional, aaand, I love giving money to people and companies that I feel deserve it, or have earned it. SK is a great game and I don't mind throwing money their way whenever I can.
