So when looking at the new promo, I noticed the price for 14 boxes, $49.99.
After seeing that, a thought popped in my head. Sure, games could offer special content for real money, but what drives a person to buy something for $50 or more? A prime example are some iOS or Android games. Who here spent $40+ on a game, particularly in one purchase?
Why would a person spend all that money on not a game, but content for the game? I mean, seriously. I remember one game on iOS that had you buy $30 worth of the "exclusive money" to get not 2, but 1 weapon. For a 1/5 of the game.
Idk, I mean, some ppl are attention whores, just look at how much money valve made off with TF2 hats, I never figured out why would anyone with any sanity want to make them feel unique, by putting a hat on his choice of 9 different male only playable characters.
I have a friend who is just like this, he loves cosmetic in games and always boast about it when it comes to things like this. For example in SK he had the love aura, and despite me already reached vangurad before him, he still bragged about his monster pocket and what not, of course, that ended when I got my very own hoptimer and a hat on the top of another hat. Which is very cool IMO.
I guess the gamer population, aside from gender and age, can be classified into two groups.
-People who play a game for what it is
Trait: stick to a game for a long time, try to master the game, participate in major event even if they do not give you any perk, rarely spend money on the game, unless it is for charity.
-People who play a game for themselves
Trait: frequently play a game but quickly burn out, spend moneys on perk and stuff, don't neccessarily good at the game just like to brag, push others to play the game too.
