So multiple places said, Darkfang Thwackers, and prize boxes. Wiki said prize boxes, but people have been telling me only Darkfang Thwackers drop em.

There've been a lot of hunts, I've partaken in a few, but nothing turned up. Is it still out there? Possibly. I dunno what's been going on with item drops as I was away for a while but your best bet is S6 Decon zone or Gremlin arena prize boxes (prolly red ones).

As for whether it's the gremlins or boxes that drop the shields (I tend to go with the boxes), that's a pretty grey area, not really enough data to know for sure. I think the better question is: equipment drops were seemingly removed from the game but added back in. Many say equipment drops are much rarer now. I wonder if this has made the drop rate for DF shields even lower, or does the DF shield have a separate drop rate (since this is the only way to obtain one except buying one)?
Trust the Wiki, love the Wiki.
T3 Decon Zones are the "best" chance. Even though there's only like 8 that have been found (recorded).
