I am fairly new to the game, so as I was playing I got to a escalator but it wouldn't let me go. I heard it was something about crystals but I'm not sure which one I need to enjoy this game. I heard the mist regenerates but crystal is something you have to buy with crowns or real money. Which one do I need to play the game?

You can't really get more than 100 energy. Not even with 100 energy and using a mist tank?

No more than 100 Mist Energy
No more than 100 Mist Energy at a time. Mist Energy is the little bar at the very bottom right. It will not go past 100, and as mentioned, slowly refills (renewable). The large number, presumably zeros if your new, is Crystal Energy. It can go as high as the number of digits. Mist Tanks are, well, Mist Energy. It goes in the smaller number on the very bottom only. So, don't waste a Mist Tank until your empty.

There's Mist Energy (the max-100, regenerating energy) and Crystal Energy, which you can get by paying a bunch of crowns (in-game money) or via cash.
When you do anything that takes energy, the game will take from your mist energy first, and then take from whatever CE you have.
You can also trade CE, but not ME.
