I don't set foot in New Recruits very often, but I have done so enough times to see the stickied thread present there.
Sadly, it appears that some of the links are quite outdated. Most links to threads on the forums precede node ID 10,000. Some may have information that contradicts the current state of the game. For example, I looked at this link and noticed that the OP speaks of "shield bashing", when actually speaking of shield bumping, which isn't quite the same now that a shield bash is a separate move.
I suggest that we try to make a wiki page with contents similar to Eury's thread, but make sure that all links are up to date and are without any major factual errors. When it's done, it would probably be a good idea to kindly ask Eury to remove her old thread and make one that links to the wiki page. Keeping it community moderated will allow it to be way more flexible for when the game changes and when new, good guides are written.
Steam guides is one big hub of guides which receives little attention here on the forums. Plenty of the guides are of rather low quality but there are some good ones, and those are worth finding. Maybe some of those could be added if the page is made. And lastly, let's be honest. No list of helpful SK guides and such is complete without Bopp's sword guide and a couple of sentences on how to search for stuff on Google.
It's a good idea (and I've also noticed the very outdated guides on that thread). Check the Main Page on the wiki - in the top two blocks, "basic training" and "clockworks handbook." There's a ton of links/guides in there - including links directly to category pages, which function in a similar way to Eury's thread. We don't want to be overly repetitive on the wiki (like making pages that already pretty much exist, but with slightly different titles). Anyway, check over those - if you feel anything is missing, inaccurate, and so on...then add to/edit existing pages, or make a new page if you absolutely can't find what your target subject happens to be. For example, a wiki page linking to forum threads has been discussed before, but never heavily considered as far as I know due to standardization issues and blah blah blah.
IMO, having guides that are outdated is very harmful to new players - we don't have the same "sharing and caring" dungeons we used to, as outlined in that previously useful guide - this is now bad info. We really should get some GMs to update that thread.
I've been thinking about a furniture guide for some time now, but some recent threads have put the breaks on that. It's always important to discuss large projects, or at least state that you're about to go skydiving into one.
As always, if you make a page (or pages), put an appropriate category tag on it/them.
