Hello Iv'e played a gunner for a while but have never tried alchemer switching. Most topics I find about this gunning method are usually about 2 years old so I was curious as to if effective alchemer switching still does the most dps for gunners. Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you guys soon!

It's still silly overpowered.

It's still as laborious as it was, and also effective.

Yes. Dps in the hands of an expert rivals even the run of the mill average brandish standard attacker.

@Krakob Alchemer switching is

@Krakob

Alchemer switching is just another word for spam, even though it takes some skill. It does not take a lot of skill, just a little. And spam is easy to counter.

In PvP, keep out of range. Alchemer range is easily beaten by valiance/antiguas.

If you are referring to PvE, than I don't know what to say since few people care enough to complain about weapons being OP in PvE.

If you were asking about PvP, you should have posted in The Coliseum. Doesn't matter, though. It's a rather broken technique, anyway. Your rate of fire can exceed the rate of fire of other guns which are supposed to be faster and your DPS goes through the roof thanks to ricochets and inherently high damage. The charges are silly powerful as well, being able to kill several enemies at full health in one charge and one-shotting people in Lockdown.

Thank you everyone for the

Thank you everyone for the feedback! When I posted this I had PvE more in mind than PvP but in the end, PvP is also important since I find it rather fun! I will try my luck in both and see if No-Rules or Krakob is correct at the PvP end.

yep it does most dps on small enemy (if bullet bounce inside enemy) but still not good as brandish and i prefer autogun over alchemer on boss.

and i rather think alchemer switch is bug abusing over skill (the trick one), you don't need to train harder to use this.. just setting your switch button to whatever you like~ but some do this more easily with 3rd program or a thing that come from expensive mouse.

@Krakob not sure if it is

@Krakob not sure if it is broken per se, but it is definitely OP.

Vanaduke can be cleared in 30 minutes with alvhemer switching and a blitz. 25 mins with a combuster, vortex, and blitz. (Not skimping on any rooms or doing dumb speedrun stuff like runningg with a sprite without clearing a room on D25). But FSC can be done in a little over 30 mins with a blitz only (though need more info on blitz only runs).

Anyways, alchemer switching ie OP, but is a legit tactic since nothing has been done about it. Heck, shielr cancelling is the backbone of this technique and its in the wiki, meaning it is legit.

Still beats brandish spam i my book,, since it takes more skill.

LD needs more of a penalty for missing too, but thats for another time.

Is alchemer spamming worse than polaris or nitro spam in PvE? Is there any reason alchemer switching should be weaker?

I don't know if I'd call it OP necessarily. You're giving up an entire weapon slot, or even two entire weapon slots, just to make it happen. That takes a lot of the diversity away from your loadout that could have gone into things like support bombs or brandishes, and really forces you to play gunner. It also costs twice as much in every other way- you need twice the weapons, twice the variants... really, I think having more weapons that work in a similar fashion could work to really benefit the game with some tweaking. People will always call anything and everything OP anyway.

i think it because no one complain about it~ mostly people keep silent as long as they having fun with it.
legit or not.. it work this way :
found good bug > enjoy abusing it > silent > legit

found fun bug > enjoy walking in sky > jealous people and abuser hater report it > fixed

found worse bug ever > player not like it > lot of people complain and report it > fixed

"Still beats brandish spam i my book,, since it takes more skill."

i'm not really interesting on skill because i play for fun but i think brandish charge spam more better on clearing mob, i already tried alchemer switch before and still not fast enough to beat brandish in clearing mission (but fast on single enemy).

in PVE this gun is fine (bad on place with gate switch and exploding block~ depend on user) but in lockdown.. storm driver switch can make you not move in place and kill you (this work even on mercurial guy, many die from this trick).

No-Rules, your comment on nitro/polar spam: "Is alchemer spamming worse than polaris or nitro spam in PvE?"
I'd say alch's aren't as distracting to use as nitro/polar, but you probably want to go with getting damage increase (DI) UV/trinket

Alch switch takes skill. You can stand still and increase your rate of fire that way or you can try to maintain a constant speed while moving.

@Fehzor
No, you can do it with just one weapon if you switch and switch back instead of just switching back and forth. Of course, you are using one slot for the Alchemer but an Alchemer is a perfectly competent weapon.

@Floerail I am just assuming

@Floerail I am just assuming that since OOO hqs done nothing about it that it is legit. I mean, no one has gotten banned for alchemer switching....right?

@Krakob That speedrun was quite impressive, and definitely faster than my previously stated times. But he skipped about 3k or so crowns in terms of eemies. 22 mins at 5k crowns or so is 227 cpm, while 25 mins at 8k crowns is 320 cpm. Even if he got lucky crown drops and got 6k crowns (unlikely) or 7k (by some magical force of nature), that is still only 272 and 318 cpm respectively, so it is still not quite qs efficient as Chaos combuster vortex blitz. Also, he used the blotz as thedominant weapon until the end of D26 and onwards.

Is there any difference between alchemer switching and FF/GF switching? Or any switching for that matter? It seems that the nature of the guns is the main issue that kes it seem OPish (legit though)

@No-Rules

no one gonna get banned though unless the cause is significant like making someone become very rich or make the abuser overpowered, probably just fixed it.

and about ooo done nothing..
i think they only fix bug most people complain (but some not) and yep lot of people complain about fire floor on high setting (not bug) but fixed 3 years later or now (that quite long lelz), maybe unfixed is legit and maybe it is not legit @_@ (brain explodez)

^Eh, good point. But nothing

^Eh, good point. But nothing we can do right? XD

I remember there was a glitch where you could curse yourself with a faust charge in, say, the training hall, and join Haven, and your weapons would still be cursed in your inspect. Which meant that you could charge spam faust without a care in the world. Also, a side effect that I read in an ancient thread is that this glitch allowed you to constantly sell your weapon, yet it remained in your inventory. Infinite glitch money....

It was fixed very shortly afterwards though.

Another promptly fixed glitch was about an hour-long window just after some new patch, where buying 100 CE from the market gave you a random amount between 500-900 instead. This was fixed nearly right after the patch though.

OOO are no slackers, they get %$#^ done. But as I mentioned somewhere, their priorities are unknown to the community due to lack of communication. Who knows what goes on in the mind of an OOO employee....
