many people want energy when needed, but noobs want it even worse, so here's what a normal player and a noob player would do

buying : a normal player would buy it at a normal price
noob way of buying : a noob player would buy it expensively making everyone farm up money

selling : a normal player would sell energy at a decent price
noob way of selling : a noob player will sell energy at a cheap price causing energy to be useless when converted

Trade only Unless your no noob!
That way we can all have energy around

Sounds like a double whammy.

Oh noes, we have people who want to buy at cheap prices and sell at high prices. No trade occurs.

But then oh noes, we have people buying at high prices and selling at cheap prices, lots of trade occurs.

Well market always work in such a way that there are people willing and able to buy and sell at a certain price, this price and trade quantity is the equilibrium point you always see staying constant @8kcr @7kcr prices. The problem is that there is a 2% tax so there are 2 sections, one buy section and one sell section, making trade slower.

Ah, haha... Haven't seen a thread regarding energy and the word "noob" together at once, at least since pre-Energy Overhaul update.

buying : a normal player would buy it at a normal price
noob way of buying : a noob player would buy it expensively making everyone farm up money

I guess I'm not a 'normal person' if I choose to do use the instant conversion option occasionally, and as you said above it, "...Want energy when needed". I only use the market when I'm patient or I just want to make a few extra crowns *cough*
I don't quite see how buying it expensively would shatter the market, at least if the players trying to buy energy have the common decency or sense to just let that other person get the overpriced energy... Do people actually do that nowadays?

selling : a normal player would sell energy at a decent price
noob way of selling : a noob player will sell energy at a cheap price causing energy to be useless when converted

Again, if someone has the common decency / sense to just let him sell his energy for such a low price, good for him, the seller, and the market. I reckon that if the market does crash, more so just unbalanced, players will keep their crowns / energy until some GM pumps through some fluid again. Maybe I want to sell my energy quickly, I could sell it incredibly low. Good bargain for the buyer. I just hope people don't follow along and post on my bid.
