No, I'm right. It is you.
Never ending turmoil with each update nowadays...

It saddens me a bit to see the toxicity of *this* (forum) community grow as the weeks go by. But you know, in the end, you'll never be satisfied. Once something "big" happens it'll only satisfy you for on so long, before you want more... Which thus leads to the never ending cycle which most of us are quite aware of, or should be, at this point in time.

Let this be a small reminder that this is after all, just a game. You are not forced to play nor pay into the game. We've all spent a lot of time into this game that it does become apart of the daily routine, but it doesn't have to be if you're not fed up with it. It never hurts to take a break every now and then; it's only healthy. Games should be played for *fun* and leisure. One shouldn't feel obligated into playing for X amount of time per week like it's a job or something. (This should all be quite obvious)

I can openly admit that I've turned into one of those "event-only players". You know what I mean, fully fled out Vanguard, 45k+ Pony Badge, and not all, but *enough* gear and weapons to get you by basically any situation. Been around enough to see it all and are quite knowledgeable to still discuss the game's mechanics even though we're not that active, since we've played so much that it's basically embedded into our system.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Set your expectations low, so then the outcome will always look more positive. Good balance between optimism and realism... Nothing will come out *exactly* how we want it but at least you get something out you wanted.
From the moment the door opened, there is a whole new world with new and unknown adventures
I wish you all a good day~
You're not scared? Don't lie. <69
I take it that by toxicity, you mean the general attitude regarding threads devoted to the idea that Three Rings should "make more content and less promotions", or that the game is somehow dead, rather than threads like "Haw haw, Contri is an angry german kid." Or did you mean the way these threads have been handled as of late? There has certainly been a lot of mysteriously kosher hair pulling going on within each of these threads.
So lets pretend for a moment that SEGA/Three Rings have decided to devote a tiny crew to the game and focus all of their efforts on bigger and better things, like mobile development, while milking the game for whatever funding they can get and not putting much back into it. Would it be considered toxicity to speak out against this sort of behavior, or would it be loosely considered as some form of patriotism?
Alternatively- what if I did not hold such an opinion, but still wanted to talk about it? Obviously, no one is really informed about what goes on behind closed doors at SEGA, but this sort of topic is still of interest to apparently many players that care about the game in general. Perhaps we could dig up information on what similar titles to Spiral Knights are doing with their content and use that as a basis for our discussion?
Basically, yes. It's not like we can force them to tell us anything anyways, they have rules they have to abide to too... It's just that most people overlook everything, and yes, it does get quite redundant, but it's still something...
@Mtax
Not addiction, just Psychology. "I feel obligated and I don't have a reason"
So these call outs to each person obsessing over the game like it means the world to them...what if some of us are actually doing what you've said? You know, doing other things apart from sk and taking breaks.
I'm actually playing other mmos, games(such as pokemon, that R/S hype) and working a full time job. Although most of you won't care about what I just said, I would just like to say these "toxic" forums are a common thing from update days on mmos. This forum though, is extremely nice compared to some others... Not everyone can be pleased when things go sour grapes on their end.
These forums aren't too bad.
Compared to some other communities and their forums, this one is awfully tame. Thing we have to remember is that every game that still has developers behind it will have someone saying the "the game is dying", "there are no updates", and "the developers are just cash grabbing". That isn't something unique to our forums, and the only reason we're seeing more of those threads now-a-days is because people feel entitled to an update that was announced last year. Not even all the things announced too, just one part of it.
Regardless of that, that's the only thing people are focusing on which is quite bothersome. One piece of the whole cake. e.e
No matter how other forums are in other games, it should still be our goal to have a nice community. I, for one, will never be satisfied with simply being better than others no matter how low they are. With the attitude that someone else is probably doing worse, nothing will get done. I understanding what you're saying, but it's still important to recognize these problems.
Poor Panda D:
There are always going to be people shaming Three Rings because, well, simply people just like to criticize things. And well lol, Three Rings makes it quite easy with its lack of consistent new playable game content, updates containing promo after promo, and general problems in the game that have yet to be fixed. You rarely see anyone making a thread praising the many great features in SK, because people like to focus on the problems and remind Three Rings about them again and again and again.
But Three Rings knows that we don't like the promos (yes I know, hard to believe), even though it seems that people think Three Rings' memory resets everyday with the constant barrage of "WTFork OOO?!" threads flooding the General Discussion. But not all of the community complains, alot of us try to defend some of their actions. Dont get me wrong, I think the promos could be handled better, but even with all its flaws I still enjoy the game after 3 years.
The SK community isn't all that bad, its just that "everyone's a critic".
Meh, I am just going to lay back and let OOO do whatever it wants, if OOO doesn't care about me, I don't care about OOO, that way, when they shut down the server, they will only have themselves to blame.
That is it OOO, do what you want, at the end of the day, we all take responsiblities for our actions, isn't that right? Arcknightdelta? ;2
I'm glad OOO does not communicate with us, I woukd rather they save their mental health and do whatever they want then get flamed at for doing what the players want.
I recall seeing 1 insult is equivalent to 10 compliments. And I would put the insult/compliment ratio of the forumers to OOO at about 1:2.
Hey, you! Yes you, the one reading this post and this thread. You knew all you were going to find was a circlejerk and more toxicity. Why are you still here? Go back to the GD front page. Go find something better to do with your life than this. Go on. Leave.
No, please. Y'all should stop ranting about ranters that DO have a valid motive. For god sake, we aren't angels, stop expecting the forums to be as civilised as an utopia, you are just being delusional that way. I am sick of repeating this phrase over and over to people that think they are more loyal and caring for the game when they don't speak out their mind about the ACTUAL situation of this miserable game.
Stop
Somewhat of a vague response. Yes what? And I'd agree that it is redundant, but so were all of the pet and energy threads that got flamed upon prior to a year or so ago- both were found to be very relevant feedback by the developers, which leads me to believe that this sort of feedback isn't nearly as redundant as we would like to think.
As for getting information out of Three SEGAs, I don't think that's the point of the forum or making those sorts of threads (or should be, I suppose; OP can do what it wants). The point is to discuss relevant and changing information about topics. This is currently one of the only real topics that we have to talk about, so it shouldn't come as a surprise when people attempt to discuss it.
@Midnight Figure it out. It's not that difficult.
@Dragneel If you have an opinion like that of the game, why get mad about it? Why stay? Surely anyone who found something "miserable" would avoid it.
You said that you don't want OOO to communicate with us and that is what I implied in my original post. Why are you trying to kick me out when we are in the same foxhole?
Hate to rain on you parade but OOO cheerleaders are the real sicknes here. We need people who actually cares about the game and not just always pampering the devs. I don't care what you or anyone else think, I will post my opinion whenever I want.
Speaking of miserable, can you avoid life? Or the fact that millions are still suffering across the globe, acording to your logic we should all just turn a blind eye on other people's misery, how heartless of you.
I've ranted about OOO's release schedules and monetization practices and game design philosophy in the past. But nothing has gotten better, and these rant threads have been popping up so freaking often, frankly I'm sick of it. Making all these rant threads, over an over again, plus the inevitable slippery slope down into a toxic cesspool of hate, rage and frustration and a gigantic double circlejerk: one on the "OOO is bad and/or corrupt" side, and one on the side of "OOO is really good guys stop it". I guess there's also a smaller counterjerk of people like me who just get fed up with all the bull**** and make threads and posts like this one. God, all of this is so Meta it's disgusting.
None of this is going to make any difference to anyone important. And even if you think it might change the opinion of even one person... Why do you even care? One person would make no more difference in your cause. Heck, even if the entire forums community agreed completely on one side or the other (as disgusting as that would be in and of itself), I bet it wouldn't be enough to make any significant difference in the way things pan out. As far as I'm concerned the only thing OOO actually looks at the forums for is user feedback and fanart. I don't think they could care less what we're arguing about between each other, in inordinately long posts about essentially nothing. Because at the end of the day, we don't have any power (wallets don't count, half of us are f2p anyway), so why should anyone listen to us?
Yes I know I'm being a massive hypocrite by writing this. But wouldn't anyone? It's not any less true.
