The Pay to play

-Buys Prize Boxes
-Buys CE for $
-sells prizes and CE for CR

_______________________________________________________

The Average player

-Buys Prize box items in the AH
-Buys CE from Kozma and other players
-Grinds missions and arcade

__________________________________________________________

The pure Free to play

-Never buys prize boxes from SK or AH
-Finds all their orbs, and sparks
-Plays a short time and finds the game too slow and too labor intensive
-(may not know about CE or Kozma and thus never uses them)

____________________________________________________________

The Majority of the players are the "Average" players with some variations between the two other extremes (Buying a small stack of boxes doesn't mean you are pay to play, and buying everything from the AH and not Kozma doesn't mean you are a free to play). The other difference between these players is the profitability of these players, the P2P and Average players both support SK, either buy buying items from SK or by purchasing those items from those who bought it. Only the Pure Free to Play players bring no income to SK, with little apart from interesting passerbys in public places these gamers provide no help to SK.

I'm a mix.

I fall under the Average Player and the Pay To Play.

But honestly, I never grind anything anyways. So that may as well be checked off for me. If a good promo comes out or I am in need of energy but I have no fast way to get it I will pay. But most of the time I run Arcade or Missions just because I can.

In too fall in between Pay To Play and Average. well, now i do. I used to be pay to play when i played alot. and now im too lazy to grind for anything besides rads and eternals and for weapon heating. But if i need money i'll just look to the nearest promotion box and sell all of the unboxes i don't like.

I'm Free to play and average cuz why not spend 6 hours grinding. Though, I don't care for boxes. I spend money every now and then though.

I have two things to say about this. First, the "pure free to play" players consist almost entirely of humans, meaning that they are constantly growing older as time passes. If they like and play the game long enough, they will grow common sense, partake in social happenings within the game world and most importantly, get jobs and eventually have a chance to become one of your other types.

Second, even if these free to players didn't ever pay money for the game, just playing it would help out as in this sort of setting players are content; i.e. I wouldn't want to play this game if it were a ghost town. This should benefit the developers by making their game more known and more loved, which is to say that not everything is about the developers making a buck.

I've spent money on this game

I've spent money on this game and regret it. I started out F2P, then went P2P, and since SEGA has managed to make me regret doing so, I've reverted back to F2P. I've gone back to vanapoop farmin' since I get bitten every time I buy a box or CE. They can check my account, I haven't bought in quite a bit. You got one thing wrong, I spend hours upon hours every week at vana, I'm on more than what you listed as F2P by many times over.

But alas it's true. I'm fed up enough as is that I went back to f2p. I'd rather grind vana than use some of my few million crowns to buy 50 rads. It's enough of a ripoff to turn away pay to players.

Must. . resist. . impulse promo buying. .

As Fehzor stated, alot of the F2P player base grow up, possibly get a job, and join the other "strains" of players. I know I did, I was strictly F2P the first year and a half I was in the game. Once I hit 5*, and I had a job, I became a mix of the Average player and P2P. I still am too, even tho right now I'm kinda on a hiatus from SK until new real playable game content comes out. Not much of a Vana grinder, so I just pop on to see what's up in Haven from time to time.

I'll bite your bait, troll/confused individual!

"these gamers provide no help to SK"

Is this your point exactly? I'm not convinced you understand the economic structure for many F2P games.

Ideally, OOO wants everyone to be buying their products time and again. When this game first launched on Steam, the game saw a huge spike of active players who stayed on for a while. This newfound popularity, among F2P and your "average" players, translated into a healthy income stream for OOO. Pretty easy to figure out how:

Many of the newbies (including myself and my entire guild of 99 people) enjoyed the game the steady stream of content like blast network, snarbolax, twins, OCH, SLair, the LD. This then convinces many these F2P players into investing a few dollars to buy OOO products for whatever the reason may be (starter sets, cosmetic sets, or just buying raw CE to craft faster). Gaining popularity and enticing new players is the reason why many new games model themselves as F2P, and players who choose not to indulge in any sort of payments still help the model by bringing the game to the public attention just by being active (although that has been on the decline unfortunately).

League of legends, which is a very successful F2P game, has it's best player recognized as being F2P. He still helps being attention to that game; its up to the game developers to allure these new players into buying their products. I can tell you personally, after buying 2 starter kits and making my first 5 star loadout one that's ideal for FSC farming, i hadn't found the need to buy anything else in 3 years until the Rage plate promo came out.

I for one, welcome all F2P players and invite them to tell their friends about this game. Although i would love to see new content (as I'm sure everyone does at this point with these threads popping up every week), I'm sure new players would love the existing stuff!

@OP
You can't really put people into 3 rigid categories.

I'm a bit of all three.
I started out in mid 2012 as a F2P, but by the time I was working on my Azure Guardian (hey, at that point I was an uninformed noob), I got really lazy. So I broke out 16 bucks and got 3.5k CE and an Ele Pass. Blammo, I got my full 5* in one day. It was really... lame. I basically felt like I had cheated. So, I never spent any money again. So that was the only time I was part of the P2P (you meant P2W, right? heh.) group.

Besides that, all I've ever done is grind mission, the arcade, merchant, or play the energy market. I only get my SoLs, Radiants, and Orbs as drops, so I guess that puts me in the F2P category (label) that you treat with such disdain. I also never buy prize boxes off the AH with my crs, since I think 95% of the stuff is hideous and a waste of my time. I'll just go wait for the events we can all participate in...

Now then... about how the OP treats the F2P people. I think that he has entirely forgotten how important they are to the game. Without the mass number of F2P people (whether they play for 5 hours or 1,500 hours), the game would appear tiny. They make up the bulk of the playerbase. And that's not all. Who buys that CE the P2Ps buy and put on the market? F2Ps. So in other words, the game really wouldn't function without F2Pers. I really do not like how the OP treats them/us (I identify myself as one simply because I completely regret spending money on the game - plus it was a year and a half ago)/whatever.

The OP didn't say that players couldn't be a mix of 2 or all 3, just put players in 3 basic categories. In fact, you can see these categories in multiple other MMOs because its the basic structure of a F2P game's player base.

Now I must say I do disagree with the "F2P players provide no help to SK" part. Of course they do, without them you practically wouldn't have a community anymore, or people to buy that energy in the trade market. Without them, the game would actually probably die in a matter of weeks.

.

My story:

-Rarely buys prize boxes from SK or AH
-Finds half their orbs, and sparks, buys the other half with CE bought with Cr
-Buys CE from Kozma and other players in order to look rich
-Grinds missions and arcade

I may look f2p, but here's my history:

-Bought OCH for $1.50
-Bought the old Starter Pack for $20

Never buying anything again until I get a job that pays off. I mean, I've been the artist for this game for half the summer and so far it's been almost completely ignored. How 2 market, again?

doesn't make much sense

In your classification, the "average" player and the "pure F2P" players are both purely free-to-play? Maybe you should change the name of the latter one then.

Also, I do not fit into your classification.
