I haven't logged in to SK for a few many months, possibly a year or so and the game was wiped from my computer when I upgraded to Windows 8 at the end of 2012. I tried opening the game from Steam yesterday and it wouldn't open. So I tried opening it via Firefox and it won't open. So I downloaded the client (which has always been my primary form of playing it) and it will not open.

Laptop Info:
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6400 @ 2.00GHz 2.00GHz
RAM - 4.00 GB (3.87 GM available)
OS - Windows 8.1 Pro
Video Card - Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
VC Memory - 1759 MB

I have played SK on this computer with no problems before but I'm feeling like now that I have Windows 8 + the update, things are not sitting well with the game. Every time I try to open it (regardless of client), the cursor shows it's thinking for a second, then the screen goes black and blinks a few times while remaining black, then it goes back to the desktop and nothing opens.

Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated as I'd love to be able to get back in to SK.

Hi !

Check Java version ... , Check your drivers is it updated or not ? .. , Disable Steam Overlay .. , reinstall game again ..

Intel does not offer graphics driver support Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series graphics on Windows 8 and onwards. Unfortunately this means that only the base driver, provided in Windows by Microsoft, can be used for graphics. While this works well enough in most cases Spiral Knights uses OpenGL for its 3D graphics. This is technology is not created or supported by Microsoft, so the OpenGL functions required for Spiral Knights are not normally included in the Windows base driver.

I'm sorry, but if you wish to continue playing Spiral Knights on your computer you will need to use an Operating System other than Windows 8 or upgrade your graphics card.

I had a feeling it was going to be a Win8 and/or Driver issue.

I've never liked Win8 anyways, so all the more reason to go back to Vista...with an upgrade to Windows 7 of course hah.

I have Windows 7, Meet all reqs for playing, but when i click play through any type or hosting site or steam, it opens but i cannot see it open and steam says that i am playing spiral knights but i really am not
