Just because I feel like it, here's how I responded to someone in the steam comments section of the announcement of silver lockboxes wherein someone made a comment about OOO's business practices and I impulsively felt the need, as I do right now, for whatever reason, to lay out my view of the entire state of the development process of SK and the community's interaction, influence, and reaction to that process.

My response:

As much as I would like the gunner update and arcade redux to come out and fix everything, I know that won't happen. If there is any chance of SK becoming significantly better than it is currently, it definitely won't all happen at once. The thing that's incredibly frustrating about the Gunner Update is that it was announced with a release window, then delayed, then delayed indefinitely or "until it's ready" (read: Soon™-Blizzard) -- If some reasons were provided , some explanations were given, or the content promised was enough that I could understand it taking longer than estimated, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it as I do. As it stands however, the Gunner update, as announced in October 2013, was very simple:

-12 new handguns (leaked to be extensions of existing lines)
-A new set of Gunner armors with "a full range of damage type and status resistances"
-Increasing the viability of gunning by balancing guns and slight changes to gun mechanics

Now, I thought one month to do that was ambitious at the time, and I was correct. Extending the deadline by 2 more months was reasonable, gave them more time to work on a more finished product. But then there were those 2 test server sessions in Late April/Early May that gave us a taste of what OOO had been working on, apparently for 7 months at that point. Though I didn't play it, it seemed to me that what had been done could have easily been created in less than 7 months, and with no word on the gunner update other than one post from a GM somewhere (can't find it) saying it's still being worked on, I know there's something else going on.

Remember when they were all like "Battle sprites guys" and then the day before the update were also like "oh btw we put in the forge update have fun"? I imagine Gunner will be paired with Arcade Redux Pt.II, which is the only feasible (and frankly acceptable at this point) reason for such a massive delay. So, while I'm not getting my hopes up too high, I know OOO - at least someone in there - cares about the game and want it to be the best they can make it. I refuse to believe the entire company has become a money-grubbing void of creativity, caring and honesty.

As for your views of the current state of the game, If you think that's all it's for and you don't like that, that's fine. But going around trying to convince everyone there's no chance of anything ever getting better is doing a disservice to the community as a whole. You're free to leave whenever you want, but don't drag as many of us down with you as you possibly can in the process. Don't ruin it for the rest of us just because you're not having fun anymore.
Personally, I still have fun with the game. I don't play quite as much as I used to, I don't spend 4 hours in game and 3 on the forums virtually every day, but between playing LD, making myself look like a Tortodrone, and helping to run and being a part of my guild, SK is still enjoyable for me despite the lack of content. It may get boring to have nothing new to do, but at least I have friends to do nothing with. Doing nothing is fun too.
