So ever since I made my vog set, I couldn't do enough damage to stagger enemies. ASI isn't good if u still get hit in the process.
So I'm asking you guys. Should I make a Snarby set or stay with the vog set with additional items to boost attack damage? I have a DA that has ASI medium on it and the vog set with a BTS that has elemental def high. Should I keep vog? If so, could u tell me what weapon/items I should use?
maybe I should replace just 1 part of the vog set. Could u guys help me on this one?
ASI vs. Damage Increase
Another idea:
You could make sword attack damage trinkets? It's way cheaper than trying to go a full 5* armor set and layers on top of (rather than replaces) your ASI gear. Eventually, with sprite perks and the right choice of shield (you could mix and match BTS or Swiftstrike with the opposite bonus of ASI/DMG from sprite) on top of it all to get max ASI and max DMG for your swords.
Divine Avenger doesn't do enough damage to stagger enemies? Which enemies are we talking about? What depth, difficulty, party size, and damage bonus?
Fangel makes some good points. In general, the damage bonus offered by Skolver and Snarbolax is more valuable than the ASI offered by Vog Cub, just because you can get ASI as a UV, but you can't get blanket damage bonus as a UV. Also you can get ASI+3 from Swiftstrike but only damage+2 from BTS. So getting one or both of these armors is a great idea. Consider also Chaos.
Seiran's trinket idea is also good.
P.S. This thread belongs in the Arsenal forum. So please move it there (by editing the original post and choosing that forum from the drop-down menu).
I was using vog-only for over one year. It's extremely useful - it does help you to dodge and attack dodge and thats the best profit of it. Before choosing something that boost your damage - first count hits you need to kill XYZ enemy - It does not matter if you will deal 260 damage instead 230 if hit number necessary to kill this enemy will be the same. Actually I'm using Chaos set with Swiftstrike buckler and Pet's perk with ASI. For price of bad defence it gives me Damage bonus VH, CTR VH (MAX with 10 lvl weapons) and ASI Ultra.
I wouldn't attempt to rely on the stagger effects of weapons, as no matter how staggery you get there will come a point when you won't be able to stagger the enemy. It may not be now and it may not even exist yet, but if the developers increased tier length, or gave them extra health then who knows whether your stagger effect would still work.
Personally, I'd go for one piece of chaos with a fire/shock UV on it, and then use the charge time reduction sprite perk, that way I'd have +4 damage, +4 asi, +6 ctr. DA is really best used for its charge.
Currently i'm wearing a mix of Vog and Skolver (Vog suit, skolver cap) and i theorize that once i get my BTS i will get a Very high increase on my damage and a Med on my AS... ill only need one elite quick strike module to get V.high on both my sword stats, then maybe i can use the other trinket slot for a penta or focus module.
My opinion: If in doubt wear a mix - that is what i did. You will end up with V.high on both your stats after your trinket with a slot to spare, but just never get a double skolver/snarbolax set if you want to use BTS, or else one point of "stat" will be lost. (2+2+2= 6, while the cap is 5) and you will have to get two trinkets to get a V.high in the other stat.
2+2+2= 6, while the cap is 5
Pretty sure this isn't true.
The way weapon UV/bonuses work is on a 6-point scale. Low, medium, high, very high, ultra, maximum. On armor, the UVs are low, medium, high, maximum (for increased defenses or resistances).
Never knew there was an ultra level... guess im getting both a slash and a quick strike module eventually :P
For anyone who doesn't understand how bonuses work, the wiki page "Abilities" is great reading.
get at least med dmg bonus, that's where monsters at 4 members elite difficulty start to stagger by your full sword combo at tier 3. (may need a bit more dmg bonus for last stratum)
i personally think ASI is the best cuase u can hit a player really fast it's take's 3 sec for the player to act to that dmg/attack so you can hit him again >:D
You will want to keep that ASI gear because it's helpful.
As for damage increases, both play into different playstyles. If you like to bum-rush the enemy and be a little reckless, go for damage increase. If you like to attack and reposition, go for ASI.
Of course, go for damage increase as a base because there are ways to increase your ASI via UVs and a swiftstrike.
Or you could be like me and join the specialized gear resistance.
