I'm a GM of a guild and wondering if anyone knows whether if a guild goes through default is able to access the Birdsong Emporium to buy furniture while being able to go into Design mode?

I can answer your question with certainty.
I'm Sederts, and I have an alt in charge of a dead, defaulted, guild.
When a guild is in default, the entire guild hall shuts down, and anything beyond the basic GH is closed off by a red barrier. It is restored upon paying off the debt
Additionally, you cannot invite people to the guild when a guild is in default.

Don't forget about upkeep. If it hasn't been paid after a week since you paid it, then you would pay 200% of your guild upkeep price.
