To get crowns, you simply go into the clockworks and basically fight in the clockworks. You kill the enemy, you'll likely get some crowns (some monsters might not spawn crowns). Keep doing that until you have enough crowns for energy. You can check how much is energy by opening up your arsenal and clicking on the blue bar with an energy symbol.
You can buy energy and save up for whatever you want to buy in the supply depot. That, or you can buy it from other players who are willingly going to sell an item for crowns. Repeat doing those steps until you get enough to buy something from the supply depot.
TL;DR: Yes, you can buy items from the supply depot without using a credit card. You just need lots of patience and lots of time to get a specific item.

Once again, this is not about F2P. He's trying to spend real money from a PayPal account.
You can always trade with other players for boxes. They're usually 200k-300k crowns.
