I've been considering this for a while now because I want to use Energy to purchase Steam games (saw some people on the bazaar actually willing to sell some at the cost of a certain amount of Energy). But the thing is, I've heard of people getting "hacked" or "glitched" when they decided to convert and they lost basically all of their items. Is this true? If so, I might just have to keep on playing in browser. :/

You can't use energy to buy Steam games. You'd still need to use real money.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend this, as I've done it myself and now regret this decision. For one, you can't log in to your account unless you use the Steam-downloaded client. Also, if you're banned from Steam (I don't know how you can even have that happen, but you can apparently), that would mean you lose you account just like if you're perma-banned from the game.

I figured you couldn't make a direct purchase with Energy from Spiral Knights on Steam. I'm not entirely sure of the process, but it's definitely possible according to these threads:

Make a steam alt for purchases maybe. Just log into your normal account through the steam client, you don't have to bind it (just uncheck "login with steam").

Steam does everything the web client does.

Plus voice chat.

Get steam.

Steam alt it!

Steam has voice chat, that no-one uses.
And it has the occasional network outage, but download times can improve.

If you're using Steam for trades only, do the alt thing. If you use Steam for most of your other games anyways, it wouldn't be bad to consider it.
Plus when people forget about voice chat and scream when a howltzer spawns in UFSC? Yeah, that moment itself made voicechat/Steam worth it to me.
Would be nice if voice chat to teammates in lockdown was a thing.

Steam network outages are no more common than SK network outages.

And you can't blame steam for the idiots that disable voice chat for no reason. At least it's an option.

Agreed with voice chat in lockdown. It's pretty insane that there's literally no way to communicate in pvp without standing around stupidly for seconds at a time.

Your statement that Steam has no more outages than the SK server is false.

If SK is out for us people who run it directly through the browser/client, then it's out for the Steam folk as well; however, if Steam is down (which it can and has been sometimes!), then the Steam players can't play but we still can.

I'm not saying running it through Steam is bad, I'm just saying that running SK directly from OOO removes the middleman called Steam.

I didn't say anything about being "unable to play the game" or that "steam outages are less important". Just that steam doesn't go down much at all.
