Hi, I'm Contri you all know me and if you don't you suck and all that.... I made a new tourney and all that...

Rules

-You must use Fencing Jacket and Cyclops Cap without stun UVs
-The only weapons allowed are 2* Flourish/Snarble Barb and 3* Magnus without UVs
-You can use any trinket (T1, T2 or T3)
-You must record showing AT and toggle off and the gear without ASI or CTR UVs
-You can use all the map but you can't use the stuff that you find there (like healthpads, the base, snowballs,...)
-Games are up to the best 3 out of 5 on a single server or up to the best 2 out of 3 on both servers.
-Zainj can't join.
-The prize is secret.

I am just trying to lessen the workload to encourage more people to participate. :c

Still, I d ask when thet tourney would start, to check if it serious, and also to know if I ll be likely to have my new computer when it begins.

I decided to science out which trinket should be used. Of course, the only ones worth considering are sword damage, gun damage and penta-heart.

I need someone to gather damage vs a D24 lost soul for a fully heated Magnus in order to calculate gun-related values.

Assuming noone has any trinkets, you should take:
38 from 1st hit
45 from 3rd hit

Without trinkets, a striker has 280 health, so that's 8 hits to bring you down. With trinkets, a striker has 760 health, so that's 20 hits to bring you down. Penta-hearts make you live about 175% longer.

Assuming ong damage trink and one speed trink, you should be able to deal:
41 from 1st hit
50 on 3rd hit

That's 7 hits to bring down someone without penta-hearts and 19 hits to bring down someone with it.

So if you're using dual slash mods and your opponent is using dual pentas, you need to get in 19 hits and he needs to get in 8. It's seems pretty clear to me that everyone should be using pentahearts, but I don't imagine I'm telling anyone anything they didn't know already here.

Then again, maybe pure speed mods will work in your favour despite needing to get in 20 hits on someone who only needs 8 to bring you down.

Edit: forgot strikers have a +2 damage bonus
Edit: Also forgot cyclops/fencing only gives +1 health at max level, not +5
Edit: Also forgot fencing jacket gives +2 sword damage on its own, so you'd be at VH without damage trinkets at all.

Gun speed trinkets would be a godsend for say, recon, if only the gun wasn't as worthless and slow as magnus line.

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a hilarious gun to use in a team game but blaster's more of a 1v1 dueling gun (ex: tournament use) than the magnus is.

Blaster sucks. Magnus is manlier than blaster. If you hit you will do more damage and if you fail you will get hit.

If a striker is within like, 3 tiles and you hit them with magnus, they get a free hit on you, especially with fast swords like flourish.

A slow sword like SS line at least pushes them back, but when they get hit with magnus, they're at the same distance as they were when you shot, not to mention you can't move while shooting.

Also, Magnus line has a status chance. If it's 'pure' skill, I'd think you'd want to avoid status weapons in the first place.

Flourish is easily spammable and you can miss with little penalty. Magnus is closer to FOV speed.

Heck, shadow/prisma driver have slower bullets + low range + no-status at 2-3* level. Those would have been a decent choice.

Anyway, just throwing that out there for anyone who actually wants to main using guns in this tournament:
- International fights
- Magnus

Don't dis the Magnus. I made one 2 days ago and I'm having so much fun with it. Also, the flourish is a very reliable weapon.

Easy techniques:
-Double switch, one of my personal favourites. For Magnus, minimal shot delay and no reload stops. For Flourish, it basically gives you ASI max because of the cancel from shielding + weapon switch cancel.
-Hit and run, a very common technique used with swords but not enough with guns.
-Offensive gunning, this is a very good technique but I don't know why no one used in the 1v1's. You spam Valiance everywhere hoping someone will run into it, but why don't you use a stronger gun and dash in and shoot them?

It's a fair tourney, if you have a problem, don't join. (if you're lazy or laggy like me too)

Switch "ASI max"..?

Switch techniques are limited to the speed of the animations and shield cancel. They can let you attack frequently without stopping, but attacks will come out quicker with chained attacks (ex: flourish1-2). Over a long period of time you can get more attacks out, but it doesn't increase ASI in the sense that you can escape your attack animation any earlier (the actual important feature of ASI).

On that note, I'm fairly sure Magnus's attack animation is longer than flourish's slash. Throw in the fact that strikers get ASI med on flourish and 90-100% of the entrants will use striker and you have a pretty worthless weapon that will probably be used for 2 hits at most per life if the two fighters move away from each other.

Isn't that great? You stand still longer than someone can slash+miss+start boosting with a toothpick, for like, the same damage, less width, longer range, and no knockback. It's a terrible tradeoff.

Magnus is a fun casual gun, but in a tournament, that doesn't mean anything.
