Suggestion suggestions

Basically if you make a Suggestion thread you need to do a few things.

Be descriptive (but K.I.S.S. or keep it simple stupid)

Don't echo old ideas (asking for shard buff or return, or winmillion 5star is this)
----------------------Exceptions are new or innovative ideas on these (such as a full description of what your idea for this old problem is)

Be short enough to get your point across, we aren't going to read a huge page, most likely we will skim it over or ignore it.

Don't be stupid (think about item/enemy balance before suggesting it)(think about possible copyright infringment; mario/link costumes).

Be ready to answer questions, take criticism, and suggestions. (some ideas will get torn apart so don't suggest (if you do, don't be hasty about posting, please think before you hit that button) if you have sensitive feeling).

Know what the community is up to (if people are hating on costumes ATM don't suggest it until it dies down).

Don't get discouraged, an idiot with a camera may not take good pictures but he may stumble across a really nice one once in a while.

Why am I doing this?
A mixture of pity for those who get torn apart despite having a decent idea (5star winmillion variant threads), and frustration at the masses of unfinished, long, and simple threads and the OPs unprepared for the slew of questions that come their way.

I'd suggest that "Suggestion suggestions" is for 'Suggestions'.

It's kind of like a day at the beach. You try to tell them, but they leave and the new ones don't understand and think entirely differently. An interesting philosophy, and one that is hard to argue without coming across as being hypocritical. Oh well.

Eah...

I say: Share your ideas but keep them short and sweet.

If your idea has been thought of before (hint: Use google and the "site:forums.spiralknights.com" item in the search), think of how to make it unique.

Also, don't make suggestions as a sign of protest. "Suggesting" to ban auto-target is unreasonable. Suggesting an "Honor" mode, where the game locks you out of the ability to use auto-target and temporarily nullifies your UVs would be a better suggestion, and gives your name a little glow around it at the end of the match on the scoreboard.

Say, that could actually be a fairly decent suggestion...

If they discounted UV's an AT from LD, I'd play it more. Back to the topic at hand, I think Holy made a good move with this. First suggestion I made in that sub forum got barraged with hate. (for a good reason of course, but I was entirely unprepared for that)

EDIT: Maybe move this to the 'New Recruits' section.

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

usually the guys who make redundant suggestions are the ones that don't read the other suggestions before posting, so threads like these are of no use.

Different people coming up

Different people coming up with the same (and usually obvious) idea is a symptom that the 'system' has detected a fault and is trying to repair it. While it might be irritating to those who are already aware of pre-exisiting suggestions, even more so if you suggested it yourself, it still has function in finding out what people think is missing or broken.

A lot of the suggestions are just cringe-worthy fan-fictions, though.

@ Expera

I don't mind people remaking an idea that is a month old, it allows the community to take another look at it, and possibly open it up to new suggestions. Digging up an old thread just to make a post on it will most likely end up with people ignoring it just because that thread has already been thoroughly discussed.

I do mind putting the same posts of things that are on the first 2 pages (even I am guilty of this), just post your suggestion or whatever on theirs and move on, if people show interest, go and refine your idea and post it in about a week.

@ Fangel

You better grab that idea before I capitalize on it... ; )

My creativity is like magma...

It's either hot and dangerous, or slow and groggy. If you want to post any idea that I make up on the fly go for it, just have a link in the OP that links back to my original comment.
I'll likely comment on the suggestion if I have any other ideas.

Speaking of repetitive threads...

I haven't seen a dual wield thread in a while.

(not really related but shush)

If we're talking about dumb suggestions; I was gonna post a suggestion for having Gremlins as a playable race for gits and shiggles.

I had this great wall of text describing pretty much everything, and even had some sketches for armour designs.
But alas, my laptop broke, and it has been lost to the ages.
