R.andom N.umber G.eneration is, as the name implies, a system that creates and uses random numbers in order to add elements of chance.

I don't know anybody that likes it on anything but the smallest of scales.

Most RNGs are actually PRNG - or pseudo random number generators. Not actually random and with enough datapoints can be predictable.

However, there are RNGs that are not pseudo - like random.org which uses atmospheric data and creates a number that is for all practical purposes random (due to the complexity of predicting taking significant or often technologically currently impossible effort).
