I've noticed that most item pages around the wiki say what the item is right away at the top of the page. For example, the beast scale says "Beast Scales are 1-star crafting materials. " (Although personally I would say "A beast scale is a 1-star crafting material" hehe). When I started playing the game, this was a huge help. I didn't know what was what unless it was in my arsenal. Which as a new player back then, most stuff was not ;P. Anyway...across the wiki: Costumes, Accessories, other things...even battle sprites do this as well, not always with the same text style, but they do it. For some reason, when the wiki was started or w/e, this information wasn't included for the combat gear pages. Armors, Helms, Swords, Bombs, Handgunds, Shields, Trinkets...why? I ask the past, "why!?"
Well, the information is sort of on the pages...but:
Item type information is not consistently available for many of the combat gear items. Like so:
Images are a dead-giveaway...most of the time. But not always. Would a brand-spankin new user think that the tortofists are handguns based on the image on our lovely wiki? Maybe. Maybe not. But that's not the point, being consistent is the point.
Sometimes it's in the tooltip description, but not always.
Sometimes it's in the attack description, but not always.
It's always in the category section, but that is at the bottom of the page - not very convenient for the casual user.
Sure, the type is right there at the top...if you're looking at the page's coding. It doesn't show up in the actual page display regarding the Template.
SO! My project over the past few months:
For the more recent "new" items I've been trying to add this information to the tops of pages, since this is consistent with a large chunk of the wiki and is very useful information. If anyone is inspired, please add it consistently to other combat gear pages. Here is the style:
A "Pagename" is a X-star Weapon Type." There's links in there and such, check uhhh... Novaster's most recent edit for the Power Mitt or Kat Hiss Cloak pages for an example.
Didn't start a forum topic until now because these seemed to be intuitive consistency edits, but someone undid a few of these, so I've brought it to light in the forums.
I've really got to take a break from wiki editing though, as exams and other IRL projects keep piling up. Too bad fun wiki work doesn't pay for my food.
Weapons use the WeaponInfo template, which has a "type" field for sword, etc. Armors have an ArmorInfo template with a type field for "helmet", "armor", or "shield". So maybe you could just edit these two templates, to get the item type in the info box in a very easy and uniform way?
