Say I get a prize box that has a 10% chance to give me a weapon and there are two weapons available there, a completely overpowered gun that shoots bullets that go through walls and OOO desperately needs to be nerfed and a shield no one cares about. Is the 10% applied to the weapons in general (Meaning they technically have a 5% chance to be chosen individually) or do they have a 10% to be picked individually.

This question is probably hard to read and probably the answer is obvious.

shield is not a weapon

A shield is not a weapon, so I think that you might be mis-reading the text.

Exactly which text are you trying to understand?

What Pii means its if a weapon or shield have a chance of 10% to get frm a box they either have 10% each one as chance or if they "share" that 10% chance (meaning that each weapon would have 5% since to get one of them its 10%)

in which answer and "how support" has answered me.. its each thing have their own chance. so if a weapon or shield have 10% chance to get it mean they have such 10%.

@Exerpa: really?? then support has lied to me this whole time Dx ... unless i dont understood what they mean, but as far i can tell in their mails they made me understand that "each item" have 10% to get and dont "share" that chance (meaning that both have 5%)

Well, you can't get both at

Well, you can't get both at the same time.

Is this some sort of thread about how janitorial stuff can't do math and confuse division with multiplication, giving us a combined 290%?

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

I think that it's tier based. you get a 60% tier, you get a random 60% tier item. not that it matters, if you get a 10% tier in which there are two items, you have effectively a 5% chance of getting the item, which is the same if they shared a 10% chance.

The thing to understand about

The thing to understand about boxes is that OOO is a bit lazy and likes to reuse configuration templates. Their templates are based on market reasearch and tealeaf reading (which essentially is the same). That being said, the (typical) mechanic of boxes is that items of the same rarity are grouped together and only the odds for the group are given. This means that whenever you open a box, you actually roll twice. First for the group and a second time for an item within that group. For example, take the current equinox box. You got 6 groups:

<1% chance for the following:

Celestial Saber

2% chance for the following:

Solar Plasma Wings
Cosmic Plasma Wings
Celestial Shield
Orbit Aura

18% chance for one of the following:

Celestial Nav Helm
Celestial Nav Suit
Galactic Guardian Helm
Galactic Guardian Vest
Sun Crest
Moon Crest

10% chance for 3 Variant Ticket

24% chance for 2 Variant Ticket

46% chance for 1 Variant Ticket

If you wanted, let's say a Nav helm, your chances would be 18/100*1/6 = 3% (the same is true for the nav suit, guardian gear and the crests). For comparission, your chance for solar wings would be 2/100*1/4 = 0.5%.

As for your question, the chance for getting the gun is 5%, not 10%
