Thoughts on the new offensive lockdown set

So, the new set is

BKC with the Black something dress

Gives Universal dmg MAX, and msi med, and +8 freeze.

No significant downsides except shock (dont be that doofus who says curse is a realistic downside), but 2 shock maxes, which plenty can afford, gets rid of the only weakness there.

The "low" defense doesnt mean anything since the only armor that makes defense noticeable is ancient plate.

Just wanted to discuss some potential tactics to counter, and what difference it makes.

In my opinion, this set would improve the power of hybrids, moderately improve the power of gunners, and greatly improve the power of bombers.

Compared to the chaos bkc combo:

+1 dmg to guns for hybrids

+2 dmg for guns to gunners (real gunners use shadowsun)

+4 dmg to bombers (in merc demo)

All in all, sword users are mostly unaffected, and since the next most used weapon are guns, looks like we got a gunner improvement essentially.

Now, will this extra 1 pt of dmg bonus really affect lockdown? Thats like 10-20 extra dmg per gunshot depending on the gun, which is half a bar. Bad for antiguas, but all else wouldnt change too much. What do you guys think?

Meep.

It's great offensively as you said however it lacks defence. Mist bombs and other status dealers would easily gouge out damage when statuses are inflicted and so one of the most offensive lockdown sets can also be the worst if used without caution.

It's called Black Kat Raiment i believe.

And the defense is only lame on that set if you compare to bkc + ancient/snarbolax/shadowsun
But much better if you compare to bkc + vog/mercurial/mercurial demo/nameless/justifier/skolver/chaos

You're being more of a doofus than someone including curse because you didnt include fire.

My main reason for not using msi med all the time was because you had to sacrifice either damage bonus or non normal defense.
Now I can have msi med + dmg max + normal + shadow + shiver walker with only one real notable downside, it's a dress.

^Does fire hinder your playstyle by making you unable to dash or attack? No? Ok.

Try using your brain next time you post, you might then have something worth reading.

Its a bit of a challenge for egotistical people like you, but try it out.

tl;dr negative fire resistance just seems like it's not worth mentioning to you because you have too much focus on how helpful the statuses are themselves.

just because you see shock as a more frequent used status and because shock is most likely the most annoying status there is, it doesn't mean being very weak to fire should be rendered useless. every time you strike with striker booster and take damage at the same time the meter sinks and I don't need to mention you take more damage per fire inflict. but maybe I do, you did take up the subject of the tiny normal defense difference. if you drag this any further you are just making an even bigger fool out of your self for something that wasn't even a big deal when I first mentioned it.

my thoughts on everyone having pretty new dresses to get rekt in

i'll stick to my fallen set

in regards to the status argument: pretending to be holier than thou when it comes to crafting arguments about status is hilarious considering the fact that any status will get you killed when you don't react accordingly, regardless of the circumstances. if you're gonna say one status is definitively more of a threat than another, then congratulations you have an opinion.

Thoughts? What are those? o.o

I can see it now~

A recon sidestepping everything at the speed of bullsh*t, then quickly reappearing with a hefty swing of the almighty heavy sword and its trusty Auto Target special ability.

Or thy great gunners avoiding any incoming berserk strikers and quickly counterattacking with a /dodge /shoot. So now I will then be forced to create some sort of opening, either by having an idiot opponent who willingly walks into obvious spots, or commence a chivalrous gunning war, and God forbid the enemy team does not Gran Faust combo me into oblivion.

It's absolutely ridiculous. Balance is now officially a f***ing joke in this game. Before at least you could say "hey, at least the BKC is only a helmet, it's still absolutely stupidly overpowered but at least there's no armor for it!"

Well, not anymore. And the 3*/4* have the exact same damn stats, how dumb are they? Couldn't they make it at least MSI + low and DMG + low for 3*? Nah, lets just break Tier 2 and Tier 3 lockdown and PvE.

This game is now officially a pay2win joke when regarding to balance.

Until the entire defensive

Until the entire defensive aspect of the game (regarding type defense not status) is reworked the balance will be entirely in the favor of offensive armors.

honestly max damage in T2 is just wrong

Guess I'm kinda alone in this, but I think the new set is alright for T2. Not a huge fan of how the amor is acquired (that's probably a separate discussion), but the helm took maybe 3 hours of running with guildies, being only token based.

Rather than having the most offense-oriented option for the most standard class/weapon combination also resist the most common weapon (Dusker/toothpick). If anything, it'll widen the pool of viable weapons (hi Antigua, Magnus). It also serves in T3 as a poor man's BKC for those of use who didn't have anything similar prior to this event.

I guess I just don't think the new additions unbalance LD any more than it had already been unbalanced by the 5* hat, or by the Chaos changes. It will, if anything, lead to wider gear choices in T2; I haven't played enough T3 to judge, but I don't forsee much changing.

I completely agree with you

I completely agree with you Nott, this will lead to wider gear choices in T2. I can either full Dusker loadout with my tsb+nightblade and endure the wide variety of opponents who swing their toothpick+hammer 10 times in the same spot, weapon switching their life out. Or I can tsb+gun to view the same situation from a distance. But you can rest assured there'll be at least 3 players who will recognize our great opportunities.

I played T2 today with my lvl 1 BKH and I'll say it felt a bit ridiculous. I haven't seen the science on it yet but i think it makes a lot more things OHKO-able with one SS combo. Might have been that a lot if people were using unheated gear, but it felt like everything was dying faster. Haven't tried T3 yet so I can't really comment there.

I played t2 the other day for the first time in a while. I was playing in full dusker without any hp trinkets (fully heated). I got one shot by a recon using sealed sword combo using full black kat set whilst capping a point.

Yay, T2 Discussion!

Thanks iWest and everyone else for bringing the discussion to t2.

First, I love the BK set. Everyone is so flammable! It's so fun just shoot shoot a bullet at a wall, and someone gets caught on fire. My fire loadout is so much more effective. You know the best part about this? FLAMBERGES! Flamberges are now slightly more effective x3

But in the end

I still love the weapon oriented armors. IMO the gunner, dusker, demo sets are still my favorite to play with in ld because I can miss more often! Yay!

And lastly,
DEMONOLOGY IS RECRUITING T2 LD PLAYERS!

Two cents

The damage bonus compared to chaos or shadowsun isn't much of a bonus (for gunners). However, in my experience, the msi is what makes the full black set so effective. I use a BKC and black coat, which gets one-shotted by even a gran faust combo in T3. However, the msi makes up completely (and more) for that difference. More asi enables more effective dodging and kiting. BKC + the black coat is now my main loadout.
