I was wandering on older threads about defense. At what point Defesive armor get interesting?
What I heard : 7,3 Defense Bars is the way to go. Zeddy, Bopp, Fehzor and maaaany knights reached this conclusion on forum discussions.

What I want is a set as close possible to 7,3 bars of Normal, Elemental AND Shadow defense, with the most bonuses and Status resist.
Should I go with Divine Veil Normal MAX/Elemental MAX + Snarbolax Coat Normal/MAX + Elemental MAX?

There is any necessity to go for 3UVs?

won't do much

According to the research I've read (which I can't cite right now), damage protection UVs don't seem to do much. In fact, even the base damage protection that comes with your armor doesn't make as big a difference as you might think.

In armor, my priorities are offensive bonuses, then status resistance, then damage protection. If the fight is really dangerous, then one or two statuses (freeze, fire, shock) might take priority over offensive bonuses. But that's unusual.

But if you insist on going with your defensive plan, then something like Dread Skelly with Grey Feather seems good. You get some nice damage and status defense, by giving up all of those offensive bonuses. You could also consider something like Divine Veil with Ancient Plate.

I have no idea what you mean by "7,3". But- Hexzyle made this threadand Gear-Storm commented this.

Considering Hexzyle's thread about damage split, you *could* use Gear's data to figure out the splits of damages and calculate the best possible spread per attack but it would be quite strenuous and not very practical, considering how the split of damage is on a continuum according to Hexzyle.

For best results, you would probably want to think of the attack(s) you deal with most when using any given set of items. For instance, lets say my weapons and playstyle make me prone to grievers. Grievers deal status in a cloud, and shadow damage. So the best defense against them would be as much shadow defense as I can muster, along with at least +10 status resistance. If they are fire flavored grievers, I would probably want the full divine setup with fire med+ and optimally 2x shadow max. Then, I can rest assured that when the fire grievers come, I'll be ready.

As a rule of thumb and according to the wiki, most ranged attacks are primarily special damage and most melee attacks are partially normal, with a few exceptions. So you'd want primarily special defense with a smaller amount of normal damage....

But really, you're sacrificing a ton of offensive potential for a bit of minmaxing of the defenses. Would you rather have:

A)The optimal defense that exactly resists what you're fighting?

B)Defense that roughly matches what you're fighting, and some combination of ctr/asi/damage/msi that benefits you?

We don't have anywhere near enough armors to maximize both of these things 100% of the time. For instance, vog has more normal defense than elemental. If you wanted to prioritize elemental defense, you'd have to sacrifice the "sword speed med" perk. If SEGA made a new armor that was just vog cub with its elemental and normal swapped, I don't think people would be particularly thrilled by its stats enough to take it seriously anyway.

Plus, it probably wouldn't look like an epic flaming wolver.

Thx for the replies

@Mystrian
LOL hahahah =P Is a bit hard to me xD

@Bopp
I know that protection doesn't do much, but I'm going for this defensive plan ^^ Got a Dread Skelly Suit and Divine Veil... I'll see what matches better with this gear.

@Fehzor
7.3 points of resistance (the bars). Yeah, I'm sacrificing a ton of offensive potential for a bit of minmaxing of the defenses. I have Chaos, Skolver, Vog, Snarby, etc. ... and I'm pretty good with, but I just fell in love with Defensive armor (like Glacies - see node/104087).

I already have an OP set, I just wanna try something different. Thought that was possible.

Lol, then just maximize your defenses and don't worry about the fall off.

I'm pretty sure that to max out elemental/normal you'd want to get either seerus + plate or seerus + arcane salamander. To max out shadow elemental and normal.. I guess you could get seerus + one of the new kat armors/divine set, depending on whether you'd max out elemental or normal more. Why seerus? Because it gives the highest normal+elemental and best offensive stats to boot.

@Klipik
Agreed ^^

@Fehzor
Nice tip. I was looking to be a "tanker", but SK doesn't allow this function yet =P But I'll try this combo, gtg farm OCH.
