Hello all,

I've done this twice before, and failed at keeping up with drawings.

I was looking to open up a commission shop that's paid per hour spent on the drawings ( I will do demo drawings of my character at time frames). I'm thinking 1-3 hours max per character.

In real life, my city minimum wage is around 11 USD an hour. In CE the 10 USD gets 3.5ke.

What prices do people look to pay for art? I intend to have the 1 hours be quick sketches, 2 hours to be sketches, and 3 hours to be drawings.

:/

You are not the first person around here to offer something like this. Addy, wanted to do something similar but wasn't successful. You are better off give a fixed price for your stuff.

Five bucks should be good starting point, but then again, I am not the one who is buying you art.

And don't forget, I can always draw you like one of my fancy French girls for free.

11$ per hour?? That's quite a high minimum!!

Yeah, lower your expectations. Sketches should cost a lot since they are SKETCHES.
I agree with a fixed set at $5 for a completed.

@Midnight: Fixed prices don't

@Midnight:
Fixed prices don't apply to all drawings since some get higher quality. That's why I'd split it up by time. I know your drawings are free, I've progressively watched what you post from time to time and saw you were learning from the experience, but doing it free is because you're doing it for you usually (I've done this before).

I very well may do another "freebies" section, but I don't really take requests because there's not as much benefit for me personally to devote time to insane commissions. I also don't support free work unless it's gifts for friends- because art takes time, and if I'm going to dedicate time to something I for the most part would prefer to be paid- UNLESS I am passive about outcome and am just doing it to relax.

1.25ke is 5, so I guess that makes sense.

You're welcome to draw me, but I don't ever see you online, so you probably haven't seen my char. I don't ask others for art since I draw myself.

@Pandafishie:
I want to draw a panda fish now.

Yes 11 is a high minimum for people in this game- not in a real life though. I was just using that as a base, as in "Hey this is what I'm used to, what's the difference to the game".

I assume you're saying shouldn't* cost a lot haha.

*sigh* $5 for a completed (colored) drawing isn't really worth the time if it's a commission. As I stated above, I don't really support underpay. Meh maybe I'll just make a freebie thread when I get bored.

Hmmm...

Dunno if this thing is still alive...but I've done Sk commissions in the past >_>; though they also didn't last long... but from my point of view; first try adding some examples of your work so commissioners can see what it is you do. Sketches are fine, if you have completed works, GREAT! Doing so is very, very, very helpful. Charging by the hour is another thing. You could end up spending an eternity on a project, even if it seems like an easy concept. Every artists has their own speed at which they create their magic, so adding a time frame in my opinion is a bad thing. But these prices can even be negotiable, talk to the person you're going to be commissioning, communication is also key. Charging 2-5$ for a quick sketch is rather doable, maybe 5-7$ for a completed lineart, and 10$ for a colored knight and maybe 15$ for a completed knight with a background. Those are just some ideas.
