Way too much complaining in these forums. I'd rather be happy and give proper respect to this beautiful game.

Running around, fighting cartoonish beasts in an exciting manner is just what I've wanted form an MMO. It doesn't follow the boring WoW combat system that everyone else does. It feels more like Diablo or Torchlight in that respect and ends up being ever so much fun. I'm very glad to have been introduced to the game, I'm even glad for the mist energy system, as it keeps me from sitting in a chair all day and playing games. Outside is a cool place too, right?

Anyone else have praise for this lovely game? Or entertaining stories of your adventures within the clockworks?

I like this game a lot, there

I like this game a lot, there is no leveling at all, it removes one bad addiction typical to MMORPG's, the race for levels. Otherwise lately I just play daily mist, visiting other levels, without caring for benefits/loss. Waiting for new content, especially PvP.

Agreed.

It's good, casual fun. There's grinding, but the game mechanics keep it exciting and enjoyable. Sure, things are a bit limited at the moment, but I'm fully expecting a steady stream of new content to be rolled out over the coming months. I'm looking forward to it.

The mist system and the lack

The mist system and the lack of levelling really takes the anxiety out of the equation. Plus it lets me have different moods: some days I play intently (perfecting JK, developing my T3 strategies) and other days I mess around (lazily hack and slash, try out unpopular weapons). I don't need to be all pent up about getting things done.

Also I really want to express how happy the devilites and their office themed humor make me. I appreciate how the pit boss has his little yesmen and goes around buffing his employees by telling them they need to stay overtime. (the only power a boss has is to anger his employees? :P) And the shock themed ones are IT guys... I've always loved the 'hell as bureaucracy' notion.

It's true that SK may have

It's true that SK may have it's issues, but I too fear that's what everyone's been focusing on too much lately. The game is still, at it's heart, a lovely entertaining romp. I wish there were more MMOs that captured the type of simple fun that is to be found here.

it's a perfect game for

it's a perfect game for casual players who just want to chilax for a while...

people rage over it because they want to play more, but there are elevator fees...

if PvP is tax free it will give players something to do meanwhile... but that would probably mess with the business so I'm guessing there will be some costs to that too...

I love this game for most of

I love this game for most of the reasons already mentioned: it's very fun, the lack of experience levels for the character make it a lot less of a drag, and the artwork and mechanics are beautiful.

I agree with Glowshadow about there being too much complaining going on. It's really sad to see the new generation of gamers that expect everything for free (and immediately, but that's another problem). I remember saving weeks worth of allowance to play arcade games at the pizza parlor, and then months of my volunteer work "stipend" to buy N64 games. People need to stop complaining and just enjoy the game at a slow pace or pony up and pay the developers for their hard work.

But I love the game and I don't see myself giving it up anytime soon. The mist system is also beneficial in that regard: I don't play for 7 days straight and then get burnt out, like other F2P games I've done.

I love this game so

I love this game so much.
It's battle system is so damn awesome, and reminds me of Zelda and Diablo (somebody said that already :P), and I just love the Energy system (yes, that is right, I love it).

I disagree. Complaining leads

I disagree. Complaining leads to the devs looking over the data and making decisions. They might not change something, but at least they're on their toes. If you don't like the complaining don't come to the forums. People always complain about critics being critics, but if no one complained the devs could make a bad choice, and might not look at the data if no one speaks up about their disapproval. Now that that's said, some people's complaining is annoying (IE GodofSkype), but we have to live with them, and making more threads complaining about people who complain is not making the issue any better.

One day, while I was soloing

One day, while I was soloing T1, I found a Love Puppy.

I wish I could have taken him home, but I needed the crowns.

Also. The best videogame character ever.

Am I ruining this meme yet?

I quite disagree with some of the whining. As much as I am a critic about some of their design decisions, I do not in any way gloat over their mistakes, like how some people might do. Nor do I try to go "I told you so!", if I can help it. If anything, the ego might be in the way of trying to promote change.

I'll add some love to the thread, after that thinly veiled hate.

Snarbolax, most fun I've had in a long time. Fun dungeon, and brilliant lead up.

I mostly agree...

I agree with the OP as to why I like it. It reminds me of a mix between Zelda, Diablo 2, and Fate. (dunno if you all ever played that). However, the limited mist makes it so that I cant be too distracted by it, and so I still focus enough (for the most part :P) on university. I cant play it all day, so if I do have more free time and less homework, I can go outside, socialize, hit the bars, whatever.

However, I do agree that complaining is good, because like someone said, it keeps devs on their toes, and makes sure that content pleases players. However, I do think more people ought to complain about whatever it is that bugs them... but then, add in something they do like to even it out. That way players get their point across, but still appreciate the game which i am sure the devs love (and need) to hear.

this is the only MMO I have ever paid cash for, and I dont regret that at all. I do hope that use my 30 dollars to further enhance the game and make it better for all, and I realize that trial and error is the only way to do that.. I have faith that they will work out the kinks and make this an even better game than it already is.

Thanks OOO for this game, yeah, your game has some rough patches and some problems, but I believe you will work them out.

my opinion

2 things i would change about this game, 1, you dont need energy to go down in elevaters(so stupid). 2, CLASSES. like gunner, magician, warrior, anything!!! think about a mage in this game.... it would be SICK. and you could have staffs!

Not really. Forum HWFO doesn't make the SK team go, "GORSH, I guess we should look at the game data that we haven't looked at since last HWFO, and maybe, uh...I dunno...make some decisions! YEAH!"

The SK team is looking at the data continually, no matter what happens on the forums.

This is the first MMO I ever

This is the first MMO I ever spent money on, specifically because of the ME/CE system. I knew that I could drop $10 on the game now and it would buy me in-game playtime without an expiration date. I know myself well and I know exactly what would happen if it were a subscription game - I'd be playing as much as possible to maximize my money spent. Thus, why I never got into MMOs until now.

There's a tremendous amount of detail in this game, it really is a work of art. It's like a good album - they've taken diverse influences from the classics and combined them with modern elements to make something really new and exciting. I've yet to see Vanaduke in action, but someday...

I can see some rather valid criticisms, just as others do. The need for energy seems to be the biggest thing that comes up, I'm afraid the company who makes this lovely game needs to make money somehow. I dropped ten dollars into the game, that's like the cost of a good lunch or a movie and so far, I've received more enjoyment from it than either of those.

Also, there's a lot more complaining on the forums than in the game. When I'm playing, it feels like people are enjoying themselves too much to complain.

Though, I only play with a tight group of friends, that may have something to do with it.

Try to top this: Spiral

Try to top this:

Spiral Knights is the first MMO that made me cry.

And no, not because I bought CE with money, not because of the Auction House update or any of those other reasons that can best be described as, excuse the trope here, They Changed It, Now It Sucks.

I totally agree with OP

I totally agree with OP (Rakshi), majic13, Ecliptic, Glowshadow, iamah, ninjkabat (two thumbs up here), Ten_Tacles...

Generally I'm old generation gamer and I'm not used to "complain" about game.
I've been brought up on pre-MMO era games like Draconus, Golden Axe or Moonstone. There were no place for complaints. Either I liked the game or not. Sure I could have complained that there is a dwarf character in Golden Axe but no elf character which I really would like to play, but it wouldn't change anything.

I love this game for its

I love this game for its simple mechanics leading to a surprising amount of game play depth. All you really have is attack, defend and move; yet people have created various different strategies on the timing of these three actions relating to each weapon. It really is delightful to exchange strategies and solve new problems in the game using the same basic commands every time.

I guess this kind of comes from my racing game preference, where in reality all you can do is go, stop and turn. It's similar in that player skill and strategy is far more important than what items you've acquired. You can have the fastest car in a racer but without skill you'll get passed in the corner every time. (Kinda like all the people before the binding update what would die constantly in Jelly Palace with 5-star equips)
