What is the likelihood for promotional events like OPERATION THWACK (and the exclusive gear therein) to ever be re-released in the future, assuming we've just missed them?

Keep an eye on features auctions.
Accessories and some promotion costumes will show up from time to time on the featured auctions list. Other times they'll show up (Although rarely) on flash sales.
Hopefully we'll get another surprise box this year - we've had so many promos that people could miss out on!
(This also goes to hope that we can get one per year so we can get old stuff, like hunter gear, back on the list. Would be mighty nice.)
It's unlikely that you'll see them again unless they decide to redo the surprise box promo. The only instance i can think of re-released promo items (Not including furniture promos) is the storm gear but they've been reskinned.
