First I'll answer some other questions first.

Q:Why are you posting this?
A: I'm posting this because everyone wants to know.

Q: 10.2? What happened to 9 and 10?
A: They disappeared...for some reason...yeah...

And now, the moment you're all been waiting for, the ANSWER!

No.

That's All, Folks!
(I'm sorry you had to see this....for some reason. Pery-Alaois shrugs.)

PS: If Spiral Knights was DIED, they wouldn't launch promotions, and the Forums, Wiki, and the game itself would have been shut down.

yeah its common sense that its not actually dead, people just think I'd died when they reach end-game and dont bother to think about anything else to do

also their are people who think it died when they dont see GMs in havens

if you have any common sense or the ability to see past assumptions its a really easy "discovery"

Nothing is scary when you add Tetris music!

But 9.0 and 10.0 exist!

There's no pleasing anyone when it comes to a Free to Play game

Nah, the game's not dead. It's more like on a prize box life support. Since the company isn't drawing in as much money as it used to before the whole forge, free elevators, and mist deletion. IMO the game overhaul was sort of the reason the game's like this. Sure it's better to have free elevators, but eventually people will have overplayed the game and get bored of it faster than playing 10 levels a day. Now that everyone can play the game as long as they want, there's no need for people to buy CE with money, as they can just do a single run of FSC and have enough to buy 100 CE and probably then some for themselves, which then goes into the whole orb and forge crystals profitable failure. With the amount of orbs and forge crystals given in a single purchase no one would really buy (With real money) CE to buy them, and others would actually go out and play to earn enough for those materials and at the same time acquiring those materials as well.
So in reality, these prize boxes are the only thing that's drawing in money to the company, and not very well since a small sum of what's left of the community actually buys them (And if they look good or not determines how many of these people will buy them) while others see the price for a single box and decide not to purchase them. (Because $5 for a very small chance to get something good, let alone something you want seems kinda like a rip off.)

For this game to be truly dead, these things need to happen:

  • Prize Boxes can no longer be produced (Not enough money to produce the content)
  • All servers permanently shut down (Not enough money to keep running)
  • The player count actually reaches 0 (More than likely won't happen, but if every single player just gives up on the game)
  • The development team official announces the downfall of Spiral Knights (Probably after they can no longer produce prize boxes)

Activity has practically hit an all-time low in the past two weeks or so, and today most of my guild kept getting shut out of the game from buggy blackscreens. :/ I've never had so little faith in the game as I do now, it just feels like they're not even trying anymore. It's not dead yet, but it's at a stage where it's on the edge of no return. You need money to continue development, but no one is going to want to waste money on a game without promise. It's a catch 22. At some point most people are going to consider whether they should jump off a sinking boat before it's too late to sell everything back for a bit of return.

"...eventually people will have overplayed the game and get bored of it faster than playing 10 levels a day."

This is one of the main reasons why I have said that I missed the old system. I have felt spoiled with the newer one ever since, even if I said so jokingly in some thread that I do not have the time to locate.

Going on a full Clocksworks run or a shadow lair run took planning on the matter of one's resources and who would be there to support them. I made my Dauntless Delver + Gold Survivor achievement under the old system with a good friend who stopped playing some time after the elimination of mist energy. In my opinion which may be contrary to what someone said (I forget which staff claimed this) sharing health was not what slowed parties down, such is what united knights in the struggle to continue through that said struggle with a chance to pick themselves back up as a party. And using energy had much more meaning behind it for me as well, in contrast to what an earlier mission still claims.

My beliefs may be out of alignment with others but the limited time to play worked out fine for me when I had to balance SK between school, work, and other facets of life.

No, SK is Undead

SK is truly a zombie, you cant kill that easy nor is going to die. There times I hop back on Sk
then just leave for long times i just leave it. You can't really expect going on forever sometimes
when there hardy any events, and the ones that did go on, i just didnt go and do them.( i don't
regret not do the the last Kats event and miss out on crowns i could got from sells.) Like any free
to play game there still be new comers and they bring in new people, just like a bite of a zombie,
whooo. Anyways ya, never forget, never forget, we must kindle the fire to stop the undead curse.
