Wondering how many oldies still play this game. Every time I check the page there is always a new promo so I'm guessing there isn't much left for the vets to do.
Optional: If you are still going please state why you are still playing? I am interested to know how people are staying busy.
I've been a bit too busy to play lately but I've been logging in pretty much at least once a week (if not more, USUALLY more but even in my slowest playtimes I'd still check in weekly) since the public non-beta release, day one.
I haven't consistently played since I created my account, but for the most part I stay occupied via the clockworks, daily missions, etc.
I do other things than just Spiral Knights, but most of my Spiral Knights life is spent in the clockworks.
I'm from the Steam release, which was all of a few weeks after launch.
I still play because it's relaxing and it lets me take my mind off of things, for a little while at least. I'm also curious to see where the game goes, and I enjoy watching all of the poor business decisions that SEGA makes come to fruition, as they slowly learn what not to do in the hardest way possible. It's kind of like watching a toddler learn to walk on a jagged concrete surface with bumps and those awful small rocks.
I've been playing since April 2011 (a couple of weeks after launch). Playing is usually easy and relaxing. I also talk with friends, collect data, edit the wiki, learn from the forums, and help the forums.
In particular, players often create new threads about old topics that have been discussed many times. Either they don't know how to search the web very well, or they don't actually care about the topic and just want to hear themselves talk. Assuming the former, I try to help them out.
Incidentally, you could find many threads like this by doing a Google search such as what keeps playing site:forums.spiralknights.com.

Why do i still play ?
I still play because of the gunner update,arcade redux and challenge mode announcement so im saving up :)
But currently since I've learned a lot since i became an artist and game developer i decided that i will play the game for a while to give some suggestion by creating a prototype SK to show the GM on how the game could be improved.
How do i keep myself busy?
I always challenge myself by playing with 0* gear at times playing with friends will make the game more fun,just do some daily random missions with them.
I came to SK about a week or two before it joined steam, I also had lots of inactivity periods that last between 1 to about 6-7 months , but when I am not busy with life I generally spend my time doing things like idk... chatting with guildies, the clockworks, arena hunting, Treasure Vault hunting and one of my personal favorites, being an idiot around haven, good stuff.
I started playing the day SK launched. I'm occasionally in-game to chat with friends, but I mostly just scan the forums from time to time in the teeny, tiny hope that there might, someday, be an actual content update.
Does steam release count? If yes then hi. Been active the whole time.

I started playing SK in June 2012. I just don't play Spiral Knights often...
Started playing about a week after launch and was active until 4 months ago. Right now just playing when event content pops up (torto, kat, halloween, winterfest, etc) due to the grind of the game finally getting to me. I still find the events fun and now taking a break in between stuff has actually renewed some of my love and childish wonderment for this game.

I've been running for 3 years and 23 weeks first as Darkhelm then I deleted my original knight after a year and started over with Goldenrodd it's been a good run so far I hope it continues

I haven't been consistently playing in a long time but I have recently logged back in and am doing some recruiting for the guild. I like guild stuff it keeps the game interesting. I wish they had more stuff for the guilds. But I've been playing since beta of and on, I have the groundbreaker set to prove it. :p
due to how people were acting when I joined it must have been like within a week of after launch, I used to take a few breaks, but now I play almost every day
Started playing SK around 2 weeks after launch, those were the good ol' days. Got to 4* and for some reason stopped playing, I guess I got bored of the usual grind. After about 2 years, I came back to the game and saw the CE trade price doubled and these things called "missions" appeared. I liked the changes, except for the UI, but it was nice to get back to the game.
Not really in SK much these days, except to check up on what's new. Between college, work, and life in general I don't have much time for SK. I guess I've always been a fan of SK, so I keep coming back wondering where the game is headed. I'll occasionally pop into Clockworks and LD from time to time.

Been here since beta. For some reason I found the game much more addicting when it looked more old school. The old equipment icons were more fun. Dunno if anyone remembers me, I took a pretty big break from 2012-2013.

Totally forgot i wrote this thread lol. Anyways glad to see a few people left. Sk is a good game and if the development went better I probably still be playing too. I hope this game eventually provides some new life for all of you. The fact that your all still playing since beta/launch is a testament to your loyalty and 000 should be pretty proud that their game has kept people playing for so long. I wonder what kind of direction the game would be taking if SEGA didn't take over.

Summer 2011 was a great year. Keep hoping to see this game return to its former glory but until then I lurk.
Joined 2-3 weeks before Steam release. Got to tier 2, checked back every few months then stopped for a good year. Checked back again every couple of months after Graphical Overhaul, Battle Sprites, forge, missions, and free elevator. Recently spent 2 months finally getting tier 3 gear and now I'm just waiting for new big updates.
I play every now and then because it's probably my favourite MMORPG out there. It's not too hardcore and I never obsess over inventory managment and finding the best weapon with the best modifications and skill trees and mountains and crap piles of sidequests. That's just it, this game is appealing to me because it's so casual. Sure it'd be cool to have ventrilo raids with 10 people (idea!!) but I like how everything is just toned down in this game compared to other hardcore MMORPGs.
Right now just hoping for new content which will hopefully bring (back) more players.
Hey Holla long time no see. I've been here since the launch on steam however I rarely even play... Only when some kind of event comes on and I feel like getting some kind of promo item =_= sometimes people message me on steam for a run and I usually hop on to do it but thats about it. No Content = No fun for a vet like me.

Steam Launch. I just went for the Spiral Sallet which was utter crap.
Quit in 2011, came back couple of weeks ago (3 years stopped) since I needed a break from TF2.

there less reason to play for me this game, but i join sometimes to check out what its up with the game and try to play the events since it only the reason to keep playing.
Been playing since Preview Event in January (it was the best time for me - maybe because I was a member of Guild before PE ended, maybe because the Arcade was alive or maybe everything was new and fun to me).
Sometimes I play once in a month, sometimes I play for several hours a day - it depends on my free time. Still, the main reason I still play SK is because of small possibility that maybe Arcade Redux (and hopefully something else) will happen and the game won't be about regular accessory events or weekly token events (like in many moblie games now) anymore.
Don't play anymore and haven't for quite a while. This game has no satisfying content left for me to enjoy, so I've moved on.
Honestly, isn't this game more or less dead already? It has something like 500 online players on average, which is simply pitiful for an online game.
Oh, and I've been playing since launch.
I have been playing SK since August 2011, my bf used to play since beta but he leaved. I'm not currently playing the game since a year ago because sometimes it goes too laggy and I don't feel like playing the same thing over and over again, plus things are really expensive. I check stuff from time to time to see what kind of new items the team put, but nothing really motivates me to go back sadly.

As it appears to the date calculator, I set foot on Cradle for the first time on February 7, 2012. I've stopped playing due to RL stuff overtaking SK in importance, but I try to get on when I can.
I began playing the game the moment when it appeared on Steam, which was like 3 years ago already I think?
Why I still play it? I don't know, I love hanging around in Haven and talk with the people there, otherwise the levels and still quite challenging and I like the gameplay.
