I feel like the people you're trying to target with this won't bother to read this either.

Go to your grave!

"There are guidelines of what should not be posted."

Like this thread. It Is NOT needed.

@Flowchart

I'm not targeting anyone. I find it interesting how the only information about what to do and what not do to shared by players is almost always satire. I feel like there should be a non-satire version of these so that players can actually discuss and realistically come to an agreement on making a better community.

@Galaxthekillrmech

Given the state of the general discussions, it seems like it is needed. Dare I ask if SK is dead or no? Additionally, you should probably read all the content prior to posting, specifically the staying on topic part.

The target audience would be new people or who do not already know this stuff, or people you refer this thread to in the future.

As for the "Sk is dead" type threads, I ignore them for the most part. I'd suggest others do the same if they don't care for them.

By the way, I thought the original topic for this ("How to use a SK forums") was intentional, but like you said, nobody is perfect lol.

It was "How to use a forums", but I have since changed it upon re-reading the post since it was not correct. There were also quite a few other edits that I have made but did not expect people to read through it within the first 5 minutes.

Careful there Skept

Language:
You have to be aware that not everyone posting in the forums has english as their 1st language so there are always going to be times where mistakes might happen also there can be times when you might not see that you have made a mistake after all for me i have a higher chance of making spelling mistakes while typing instead of when i'm writing

As for the other things which you wrote ( I personally didn't bother reading all that because reading is my enemy :p ) some of them are right but don't stress your life because even if you write all that some users will just keep doing it,so thanks for trying but its not like most of them don't know but its more like they cant be bothered to do the right thing.

This is why Skepticraven is my favorite forumer. She or he is one of the most mature and reasonable people to actually come onto the forums, and beyond that care enough to actually post things like this. Skepticraven has a sort of charming faith in the world that I lack, really.

As for the actual guide, it looks pretty good and I like how loose ended it is. A few things that I would add-

  • Tell people how to move threads to the graveyard/edit posts
  • Tell people about the HTML tags
  • Discuss when it is OK to necro and how to do so
  • Perhaps a note about foul language
  • These are just off the top of my head.

    @Fehzor

    HTML tags and editing/graveyarding posts I believe should be under a FAQ - Which this topic may turn into if enough people are interested in having that conversation. I started with the broad ideas.

    Necroing threads will get a comment next time I find time to edit it in full.

    Foul language is covered (although not explicitly) by my link to OOO's forum rules under content.

    @Oohnorak

    I believe all satyr should be in gremlin chatter. That is my opinion - and often players disagree because General Discussion gets the most player traffic for reading. People often post suggestions in general discussion for this reason [the suggestion forums has the highest traffic of moderator-moved threads]. Now that I think about it more, I should suggest satyr threads be moved to the Treasure Vault because they are creative comedic fictions [that often have truthful aspects sometimes taken out of context] about SK.

    @Dreamless-Reaper

    Often times the problem for non-native English speakers is not spelling but rather sentence structure and grammar. Of these, I suggest doing the best you can to enable ease of communication. No where do I say that is has to be perfect.

    I mean you don't have to include it, but foul language is probably the most serious + common offense I see people making.

    skeptic, I know it counts as part of spiral knights and should be in general discussion

    I was just saying that you did exactly what you told fehzor not to do

    Added necromancy comments as well as further clarification of OOO's forum rules.

    @Oohnorak
    Please read the Staying On Topic section of the original post. This thread is not about Fehzors thread, as I thought I was clear in my initial response to Galaxthekillrmech.
