So I have a problem with deleting and starting new characters. I can't seem to find a set that I would personally enjoy, but then I saw a player who sparked a great idea in my mind. What I want is to start a new character and use a theme set. Basically what that means is that all of my items that I would have will correspond to a certain theme (Example: Poison, fire, shadow, holy, etc.) What I want to do is use any suggestions of a certain theme I could go with and use weapons, armors, and shields that correspond to said theme. Anyone have any ideas? But I don't want to use poison as my theme because that was the theme the character I got this idea from had.
Note:
I do not care for statistics because I prefer to have fun in the game, BUT! Please make sure said theme set item weapons have different damage types. I wouldn't want to be in FSC with only shadow weapons.
Theme Set
Okay i'll try to find some theme loadouts using Google. I am planning on only keeping two weapon slots and like I said I do not care much about statistics so therefore I am okay with having even the worst set in-game as long as I find myself enjoying what I would be rolling with. Thanks for the help.
Slow and steady
Ancient Plate set (shield and armor set)
Callahan or Iron slug (or that other magnus that hopefully will come this the gun update)
Sudaruska
Sword CTR pet perk
Anything Izola sells in the HOH is very fun to play with.
Sawneec:
-Mercurial/Mercurial Demo set
-Swiftstrike Buckler
-Dark Briar Barrage
-Blitz Needle
-Swift Steps II pet perk
-Metal Sonic costume
bopp u forgot sentenza
also each champion in the hall of heroes has their own theme

izola the guardian
jorin (boring cobalt)
remi the bomber
archilus the elemental defender
Sylvin the shadow defender
daxen the gunslinger

thats my set (be VERY careful soloing with it
I made one character some while ago (back when Mist Energy was a thing) which was themed around being a cat. The only weapons it had were piercing weapons and Catalyzers. It was a pretty interesting way of playing the game, as it gave me many challenges in terms of dealing with things which were not weak to piercing. How does one best fight Gremlins with such weaopns? How about Undead? How do you deal with Slimes with just Catalyzers? How do you at all damage Mecha Knights when they either block your bullets or take virtually no damage from your attacks?
I chose to include Catalyzers for quite a few reasons. Some things would be more or less impossible to do without it. The two T2 boss strata primarily contain piercing-resistant enemies, so I would probably be kicked from public parties if I only brought piercing weapons to RJP. Another reason is that Catalyzers are quite reminiscent of real life cats. Cats will downright play with their pray before killing them, which is a lot like using a Catalyzer in SK. Lastly, you can't spell "Catalyzer" without "Cat".
As for the gear, the only requirement was that the helmet would be a Kat item. I went with the Eye Cowl, since I'd find myself using a Strike Needle quite a bit, in addition to the Catalyzer being a cornerstone in my arsenal. My shield was a Swiftstrike and the armour I intended to get was Deadshot to compensate for lack of damage vs Undead and complement the Kat Eye Cowl aesthetically.
I didn't forget Sentenza. I just recommend Obsidian Carbine over Sentenza. And Obsidian Carbine is not especially hard to get. So Sentenza is not worth considering.
Also, this thread is about themes, and your stated loadout doesn't seem to have any theme. Explain please.
Most of these themed sets would be nice but in not necessarily looking for. First of all I won't be able to use any slow weapons since my play style involves the switching of two weapons, (Guide for play style is here: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/104638) and because of this it would be very difficult to us with anything that would slow me down (Speed sets would be fine). Second is that I sort of already have a set in mind.
What I would call the Shadow Jelly Theme:
-Royal Jelly Helm
-Royal Jelly Armor
-Royal Jelly Shield/ Barbarous Thorn Shield
-Barbarous Thorn Blade
-Nightblade (Would choose faust but now nightblade's so much more powerful)
And Possibly
-Other Shadow weapons
NOTE:
Yes I know that I only have 2 different weapon types, but 2 is all that I really need also the only other weapon that I would see fit to fit the description that isn't shadow would be the CIV. Also yes, I do know that I have pretty bad armor but it's a bit more useful to me since t3 Wolvers are the 2nd most difficult monster for me to face, Also like I previously mentioned before I DO NOT CARE ABOUT STATISTICS! I would also consider myself a pretty good player since I started back when the Lion Heart reskins came out so It's not too hard for me to dodge incoming attacks.
Suggestions:
I am open to anything just as long as it fits with a certain theme and doesn't contain anything that would slow me down.
the theme I use is the "odd looks and often an autokick with random people" theme
In post #8 you seem to be yelling at us. I don't know why. Everyone here has been polite and helpful. And no one here has talked about statistics in any detail.
It's fine that you have only two weapon types. That's all you need in any given situation.
For your "shadow slime" theme, have you considered stuff like Deadly Virulisk? It's great against slimes, and has an eerie appearance.
I'm surprised that you find Tier-3 wolvers especially difficult. Many players (including me) regard beasts as the easiest monster family in the game. I'm not telling you what opinion to have. Just don't be surprised if your opinion changes at some point.
Tortodrone theme would be my vote. You'd have to plan around getting the tortodrone materials as a 3 or even 4* knight, which could prove difficult. For your armor, I would suggest just going with seerus + chaos cloak, so that you can max out the tortoguns CTR.
In the end though, you'll be in the very small minority of lower tiered knights wielding tortodrone-event weaponry.
I use a few of these sometimes:
-Shock
Mercurial helm shock low, Mercurial demo suit
Boltbrand
Storm driver
Dual shock trinkets
the best shock perk
ironmight plate shield because colour scheme
-gottagofast
Mercurial mail+helm
swift steps II
swiftstrike
Winmillion, Hammer, cutter/silversix/whatever I feel like
don't forget your MSI trinke - oh wait never mind
-Big and angry
Sudaruska, iron slug, Big angry bomb
Omega shell/appropriate plate shield
full ancient ancient or volc plate + volc demo helm
dem pentas
probably a damage or CTR perk
I can't remember any more.
I have the piercing tortogun/shield but I feel that I need to make some Ironmight to match it and get a yellow-ish personal colour.
Ironmight plate set
Irontech Destroyer
Cold Iron vanquisher
Iron Slug
The Meep set. Always helped me in the worst of situations. Just great for crowd control and enhancing survivability.
Mercurial Helm (with a mohawk)
Mercurial Demo Suit
Grey Owlite / Crest Of Almire / Grand Tortofirst (depending on how often you use your shield / enemies)
Warmaster Rocket Hammer (for swiftness)
Voltaic Tempest (for crowd control)
A tactic I like to use is to use the blast damage of the Voltaic to attack rather than the Hammer if your space is limited to a few blocks. Lay down a VT directly next to an enemy and kite around them, continuing it till they die. Quite long but very safe.
@OP I totally get ya, I have been thru about 3 vanguard accts (on 4th lol) just due to the cycle of play.
If you want a cool themed set, I would suggest not being that guy that wears full vog with all volcanic accessories and thinks he looks cool.
I would spend some time checking out accessories, costumes, and weapons just to see what fits. The best costumes are the ones that were not intended by OOO.
Example:
Hallow Hood
Garnet Rose Tabard
Aggro Aura
Crest Of Rage
Volcanic Halo
Red color w/ pris mechtennas or com unit
Expensive example, but something along those lines vould worm for a fire themed set (Dragon S ale Shield and an FoV and it looks beast).
So yeah, theres an example for a fire themed. Poison would bebtricky due to lack of green accessories mostly. Freeze/Shock could work.
Best costumes that Ibhave seet usually combine 2 colors. Could be Red and Gold, Orange and Cyan, Magenta and Blue, etc. Those look very good.
I woukd stay away from putting on too many accessories too. After a point, you'll stop looking coordinated and instead you'll look like Vanaduke's chili from last night.
dont be dissing too many accessories
I use a fancy canteen dusky munitions pack dusky Trojan tail grasping aura volcanic toupee heavy mecha wings and a military sensor unit
put on obsidian mantle of influence and dusky gremlin helm
I farmed for all of that and it looks cool , u can never have too many accessories
@Bopp I didn't really think I was coming to a sort of yelling tone but sorry if I did I was just putting it in caps just to hopefully have it catch someones eye and read it so that they don't post something like glass cannon theme with full chaos and such. In addition to the T3 wolvers, people have different opinions and that is just mine. I am pretty bad with them because of the erratic movement that they have and the only other monster that I would consider difficult is the gorgos but after trying the new play style (as mentioned above) they don't really seem to be a problem anymore. A single T3 wolver is easy for me to handle but what really kills me is when they become a large group. Also for the Deadly Virulisk is that that was one of the equipments the poison themed player had therefore I would like to stay away from such items.
@Fehzor That is something that I would like and have done. (with other events of course) The only problem is that an event isn't going on right now and i'm pretty sure we just came back from a Kataclysm confrontation so I would be expecting another event in another month or so.
@Octaslash As much as it would be cool to have all of those accessories I just won't be able to afford it without spending a lot of time grinding for money. But if I take into account what Fehzor said and waited for an event to come then I could possibly spend my time doing arcade and getting money so when the event does hit I could probably get some nice event items and probably come up with another theme according to it and use the extra money for accessories to match said theme. Also a poison theme isn't very hard to come by. There is lots of poison themed weapons such as the Deadly Virulisk, Poison Needle, Biohazard, DVS, Humbug, Venom veiler, etc.
On my account, I am using a "Divine" Loadout in Haven. It is great, because you aren't at all limited to a single weapon type! The only problem is that you can't get an aura with it, but it provides the most general PvE defences there are.
I am using
-Divine Veil
-Skolver Coat
-Divine Avenger
-Final Flourish
-Sudaruska/Supernova
-Argent Peacemaker
-Grey Owlite Shield
I use this with a Seraphynx to increase the "divinity," feel free to make 'shiny' adjustments, I have polar glasses, and some Dusky Wings.
IGN Death-Mint
There have been threads on this in the past, but not many. You might try searching Google for something like "theme loadout site:forums.spiralknights.com" (without the quotation marks).
You didn't mention how many weapon slots you'll be using. That's the most important piece of information when planning a loadout. So I'll just name some weapons and armor.
Speed theme:
Dread Venom Striker, Wild Hunting Blade
Warmaster Rocket Hammer
Argent Peacemaker, Obsidian Carbine (though I dislike them in general)
Mercurial, Mercurial Demo, or Black Kat armor
Swift Steps II sprite perk
Swiftstrike Buckler
Fire theme:
Volcanic Pepperbox
Combuster, Fang of Vog, Magma Driver, Ash of Agni
Furious Flamberge
...
Keep in mind that you probably don't want to use fire weapons and fire armor at the same time, because your armor should agree with your enemies and your weapons should not.
You could do something similar with freeze or stun.
