A story, complaint and question...
So I recently made a brand new knight to try out the new T1 content. Little did I realize how many bad groups I would find in T1. The first two times I ran the boss levels in T1, I started in a group of 4. Both times, by the time I got to the boss, all three other players had dropped out of the group due to constantly dying and reviving. Both times I had to play the final two levels by myself. The other players would constantly be killing themselves on explosive boxes, spikes, thorns... it seemed like they kept finding new and novel ways to kill themselves. (And no, these were not T3 players just messing around).
Anyways, both times I did these runs, I sat around for 15-20 minutes on the last level before the boss just waiting and hoping someone else would join to help with the boss as I was still in all proto gear. Both times, I had to fight the boss alone as no one joined the group. As this was 1 day after the new update went in, I have a really hard time believing it was because no one was joining groups. Was there some kind of update that went in that doesn't allow people to join groups after the first 3 or 4 levels? Had I been a brand new player, I can promise that experience would have really turned me off from the game. As I had already come so far, I didn't want to give up, so I foolishly tried to fight the boss in nothing but proto gear. After a VERY long fight, I somehow finally won with 1/2 a bar of health left without reviving. If you were wondering if it is possible to solo Snarlbolax in all proto gear, the answer is yes, but it isn't easy.
So, now I am back to choosing to solo those levels as it is just way less of a headache then trying to get into a decent group.
Has anyone else had that same experience and does anyone know if people can still join your group a couple levels before the boss? If not, especially on T1, that should be changed.
Boss levels are locked. You can't join a group on the actually bosses level. This includes t1, t2, t3 boss stages. Players can join up until the boss level but not on the actually level itself.

I'm on a couple hours a day.
If you want to do some levels or just have
someone on you can invite incase you need
help my IGN is Guardianknight.
Feel free to send a friend request.
P.S. I won't be upset if you don't send a friend
request. Just thought i'd throw the offer out there.

Given the way tokens are distributed, I would be sorely disappointed if I joined a random group and ended up at the boss stage, anyway.

Also you can't join a group if they have completed more than half the level (unless they are a guildmate/friend or were specifically invited). So if you were waiting at the end of the level 6 (the depth before the boss) no 'randoms' can join your party.
@Trouserman "Given the way tokens are distributed, I would be sorely disappointed if I joined a random group and ended up at the boss stage, anyway."
I don't know that I agree with that. Just think about it from a energy cost. You can spend 60 energy to get 3 boss tokens (I know you can supposedly get 4 or 5, but I have gotten 5 tokens 1 time out of 30ish runs) OR you can spend 10 energy to get 1 token. Which is more cost and time effective? Even if you get 5 boss tokens for 60 energy, it is still more effective to join right before the boss and get 1 token for 10 energy.
@Milkman797 "Also you can't join a group if they have completed more than half the level..." That is a concern. Given all the terrible, terrible groups I am finding in T1, I would suggest that be changed in T1 only. Every T1 group I have had so far has resulted in all 3 other players quitting before level 5. If a new player comes into the game, I highly doubt they will stick it out long term when that is their only experience.

Except it doesn't cost only 10 Energy to do what you're saying, it costs 20. It costs 10 Energy to join the party at the level before the boss, then another 10 Energy to get to the boss itself.
That's 20 Energy per 1 Token, so 60 Energy for 3 Tokens, which would only make it even to the 60 Energy to do a full boss run to get 3 Tokens. -However-, that's assuming you would have only gotten the minimum of 3 Tokens in that full run.
Given the option most people would go for a full run because not only does it have the chance of giving you more tokens, but it also gives you more crown, and heat.
but you could always just be a heat vampire. I never try to get my party members killed, but when they go down I certainly don't mind reviving them. The trick is getting to them before they revive themselves with energy! Lolz...
I think the problem is it'll always join you into the most shallow depth that has an open party (at least it seems like this is how it works). Right after the patch almost everyone was running T1 on that gate which means there were probably infinite parties in depths 1-3 with open parties that gobbled up everyone that was trying to join a game.
Friend people who you play with that are decent and build up a list of reliable knights to call upon otherwise continue to solo because party play is really hit or miss, especially in T1.
