I know that these "SK died" threads arent a thing, but my main concern its where the game its going? i honestly dont mind promo i stopped to buying them because well i dont get energy anymore with them, so instead risking myself on getting only bunch of worthless stuff i just prefeer to save my money for something else.

But after reading some threads and some blogs comment about updates now im worried, is true that have been long time until a dev or GM posted about the current state of the next updates, and i agree with some forumers about Gunner Update: what its a bunch of guns and tons of armors if you will still doing the same thing over and over again? so i grew with the hope that devs must be working on something else that isnt just a bunch of guns and armors (in other words: new enemies, levels, tier 3 boss) which such thing made me feel sane about "the time they already start to take in order to give the update" in other words: a big update, so i didnt care as long that update its a big one.

After taking a look to the forums, tons of thread that SK died, that devs didnt care about the game, how new events start to be lot of grinding, im worried again, specially in some threads like the one Nolidor did about SK going bankrupt, about Spiral-Spy post in his blog on how Gunner Update will never come and so on.

Nolidor thread kinda pooked on my head, while i understand that E prices will raise sometimes because X reason (for example this last flash sale which made price raise since everyone wanted E for the sales) but i just kinda like "ehh why energy its raising again?" my only guess its this promo because everyone want those fancy accesories of wind up keys and exhaust pipes, but i just doubt it. and while its true that we dont need energy anymore for crafting, its just kinda worries me for new players who might end up just with 10k cr per 100 energy to craft something ( i know we can farm the orbs) and i just hope it just me, but i kinda feel the market its like "frozen" and everyone desperately want to sell (i mean i got a celestial blade for just 30k E since the guy was in a hurry to sell the stuff)

Then Spiral-Spy post in his blog about Gunner Update, which also take away my attention, because its make a bit of sense after looking how new mechanics (in the case of mixmaster and the torto guns) were implemented, either from real money (prize boxes) or just event (torto guns) and the last one "mixmaster" its what annoyed me more (although was kinda fair the 10% chance to get so practically i got mine from a player for just 15k E) but really got kinda mad once i figured the mixmaster was a pay2get which made me see that Three Rings Design were taking the path of p2w (dont get me wrong im not agaisnt them making money since its what sustain the game, but how could be this if the weapon was <1% chance to get from a box? spending around 500 USD to get a gun? its what annoyed med i dont mind if they add new mechanic behind paywalls but always as is a fair way to get it dunno like supply depot thing or DLC thing but not behind the paywall of RGN).

So yeah im kinda worried of this game because its just unique, i played few MMo's because im not used to them, but this one its what i was looking for a multiplayer game (well except the PVP side because that it just ehh well i just will keep my comment on myself) so can i ask you a few couple of questions to you guys?

1) Do you think Spiral Knights Community its Tenuous? i know Nick Tweet wasnt referring to SK community, and sometimes i see people in Haven, but how would you consider SK population right now? (if you ask what tweet well: https://twitter.com/NickPopovich/status/513414023203659776)

2) Anyone here played Dr Who Worlds (or whatever was called the other MMO that Three Rings Design shut down)? if it so, How was the last month, weeks, days of the game, like the same spiral knights its getting trough?

I hope you guys can calm my worries with your opinions, because my only hope relies on Paintool Thread about that probably december will have something big as update and thats the only thing that make me have little faith in this game.

Thanks!

Sadly, if there isn't any new

Sadly, if there isn't any new content added, I really think a lot of this game's community will move on to other games. This game is great, sadly it has all been downhill without Nick.

Without Nick, there are no Knights. It is just Spiral. A Spiral downwords, I fear.

Ugh.

And this is why us forumers dislike when people throw the whole "the game is dying!" thread around. All it does is turn off players and, hence, being the ones who work towards killing a game. Spiral Knights is fine right now, the development team is just down to... Two people I think? I haven't verified that myself but that's what it sounds like. Two people can only get so much done every day, and bugs can show up that are more extreme than considered.

Spiral-Spy is a user who relies on statistics and assumptions. The day the platinum prize boxes came out, they stated the numbers for them in confidence, with nothing but circumstantial data... Which is great and all, but isn't the hard data that we all have come to expect. They aren't necessarily wrong with numbers, however the gunner update is going to come out. Statistically it's better to not have it come out, but the update will come out when Three Rings wants to release it.

Also you can throw some of the energy market's sways around on certain people. A few nights ago Njthug decided to play with the market so maybe it just hasn't stabilized yet, others decided to get in on the giggles and throw prices around, or something else. We don't really need energy anymore, and if we don't want to buy energy, we don't have to. We can just play the game and look for the orbs we want.

What is unfortunate is that the loudest mouths are usually the ones who are unhappy. You won't see threads that say "OMG, THE GAME IS REALLY ALIVE!" and have page upon page of people saying nice things... Controversial topics are easier to talk/argue about. Here's a good example:

  1. "omg the game is dying"
  2. "no it's not"
  3. "yes it is"

>repeat 2 and 3 forever.
Whereas

  1. "omg the game is alive"
  2. "ikr"

>end thread

The gunner update, arcade redux, and new tier 3 boss will come out when they are ready. When Three Rings announces things, we all expect it immediately for whatever reason. Hence, they have stopped announcing things until they are ready to avoid disappointment. Be patient, play the game if you think it's fun, and go out and do other things whenever you stop having fun.

if the sky is falling, it's very slowly

You're voicing your concerns, which is fine. But you need to understand that people have been posting threads much like this every week for over three years. And the game is still going, and still gobs of fun (at least for those who haven't totally exhausted its content). If it makes you feel better, I see new knights all the time in Haven.

Just for curiosity, I wouldn't mind hearing about the final days of Dr. Who Worlds, though.

Hmm, I've fought worse.

yeah yeah yeah, the neverending battle between preachers and the non-believers blablabla, none can prove the other wrong yaddayadda can we get over this already, i'm just waiting for the big words being finally said by the GMs so we can finish the forum massacre once and for all, And sadly, until that day people like me and many others won't shut up, because we've been given a free to troll pass in the form of a year of silence from OOO, for good or for bad, threads like these will most likely keep coming, and I don't think that users have to take the blame for being honestly concerned about what is going to happen next.

Btw, if you guys try to use the "omg no devs" argument to try convice the people that the game isn't dying, you're only helping the enemy, having few devs to take care of the game is more of a sign of a really dying game than one that isn't, that being said, i'm already leaving through the back door before anyone starts throwing tomatoes at me.

I wonder if koalas make good pets. . .

Well the game definitely isn't dead/dying, more like on steady life support and every once in a while the nurse comes in and injects it with Holiday/event medication.

Lets be honest, Three Rings sucks at communicating and updating their player base about what the hell is going on, which is why people feel free to bash them over and over and over and over and over again. Which is why I always recommend to people to just play a different game until something happens, its better than making a new thread everyday about how disappointed you are with how the game is being handled. Sooo many threads are just the same topic repeated every week, or you have the "I know how to fix everything" threads. Just go play something that actually has regular updates with constant game events and content. Doing the same missions, and depths over and over again can only keep your attention for so long.

Ok guys, here is how to test

Ok guys, here is how to test if the game is dying or not (dont do this though ;)

2 methods:

1) In game hurfication

You can check activity by requesting GM assistance if you encounter a glitch. (If they come in 20 mins or less, they need better endurance/they are active!)

2) The Cantata Mortis

Test the ban feature of the game

If you get no response, the team has bailed and SK is going on like a chick with its head cut off.

I for one am pretty confident in OOO, and if they are ignoring us, kudos to them (legit). The forum is filled with too many trivial posts, only about 1% matter to anything. Others are just ego boosters, death predictions, hernias, and questions about the game that have been answered too many times.

Save your peace of mind OOO, and focus on whatevs u r doing. Try to please everybody, and you end up pleasing nobody.
