Which autogun line to go with?

I am relatively new,and I want to know which Autogun line I would go with.
The older threads only had people on babbling about how bad autogun is,and they're probably outdated.

The Pepper-box line does lower damage but doesn't have weaknesses and has fire which I assume(since I' haven't played with it yet)compensates for the low damage.I think auto-gun does better at short range so the pulling back effect of it(I read that glitch in the older threads I read before),if it still exists, will be useful.

The Toxic Needle does piercing damage and has a weakness but I assume(since I' haven't played with it yet) it is able to eliminate that weakness by the use of poison, which lowers enemy defense.

The Blitz Needle does the most amoun damage and even though it has weaknesses,I assume (since I' haven't played with it yet) it would probably be like a normal damage version of the Toxic Needle when hitting monsters who are strong to pierce.

All of these seem equal with the assumptions I've made.

And you can either post a useful comment which will help me (and some others who might stumble upon this thread ) choose the one which is best,
OR,
you can post a useless comment on how bad auto-gun is (which of course will be ignored by me because Auto-gun is so fun to me.) .

why go with any of them?

Welcome to the game. :)

How do you know that you want any Autogun line at all? By asking this question, I'm not disparaging Autoguns. I'm trying to convey that your equipment selection process is a bit backward.

Equipment in this game eventually ends up at 5 stars. There are some exceptions, such as Swiftstrike Buckler, Black Kat armor, and anything used in Tier-1 or Tier-2 Lockdown. And yes, the heating of 5-star items takes a while due to scarce 5-star fire crystals. But your general goal is to end up with the best 5-star items. And items get dramatically more expensive to craft and heat, as you go up the star levels. Therefore it is important not to upgrade items just because you have the low-star versions. Instead, you should always plan your equipment by choosing the 5-star items that you want, and then looking back in their alchemy paths to see how to get them. With that in mind:

* Do you want Plague Needle? Probably not, because Blitz Needle is more powerful. For example, people have done detailed calculations about parties firing these guns at Vanaduke. You want a Plague Needle only if there are already three Blitz Needles in the party.

* Do you want Blitz Needle? Yes. It is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. It is the preferred way to kill Vanaduke, who is the most lucrative target for farming crowns, 5-star fire crystals, etc.

* Do you want Volcanic Pepperbox? Not immediately. You might eventually get it if you really like Blitz Needle and want to use a similar weapon against slimes and constructs.

I hope that you find this advice helpful. You might also try a Google search such as "blitz plague site:forums.spiralknights.com" (without the quotation marks). You will find many, many threads.

also

Also, Volcanic Pepperbox no longer sucks its targets toward you. Sorry.

Also, there is a planned "gunner update", which has been delayed for many months. If it ever arrives, it will introduce many new guns to the game. It will also alter the balance of the existing guns. Just keep it in mind, as the game keeps changing (slowly), and your optimal plan may change.

Also, whether you want a normal or non-normal weapon depends somewhat on what other weapons you're equipping. Ideally, you would plan an entire loadout of weapons at once. By coordinating damage types, you can exploit the advantages of non-normal damage, without ever incurring the penalties. But this depends somewhat on your play style.

The blitz needle is currently the most used autogun, as it deals pure damage and more damage than plague needle, even w/ the poison chances accounted for. The blitz needle is something that you will almost certainly be crafting at some point, if only for firestorm citadel.

The pepperbox is a powerful support weapon that can deal with any of the bosses when paired with decent CTR, turrets, mecha knights, and a good bit more. It is, however, much harder to use on any of these things than the blitz needle is on just Vanaduke, and there will always be a better option to kill bosses individually. Using the pepperbox effectively is a much more skillful job than using the blitz needle effectively.

Of course, all of this could change with the gunner update that might not even be coming out.

@ first comment: I have

@ first comment: I have chosen blaster with another character,I want to try out the auto-gun line with another. And I like it cuz it's fun.Maybe my selection is a bit backward because I'm relatively new.
@ second comment : I do have a blast bomb dealing normal damage.I use it more than the auto-gun.

just to try out

If you just want to try out the Autogun line, then get an Autogun and start upgrading it toward Blitz Needle. But don't go for the final upgrade (4 stars to 5 stars) unless you really want Blitz Needle.

It is never too late to switch alchemy paths. I mean this quite literally: The cost of upgrading and heating a 5-star item is dramatically larger than the total cost of making and heating the 4-star precursor item. In other words, much more than half of the cost occurs at the 5-star level.

Enjoy the game.

I have all 3

Pepperboxes come with knockback on the charge (the others don't) and a chance of moderate fire this makes for a good all purpose hallway area denial and all around damage dealer.

Plague needle comes with poison which makes for a good defensive support weapon; especially for those who like to play the gunner and not the DVS striker or the VV bomber. It is also a year round accessible poison gun.

Blitz is just for pure damage, however if the enemy resists damage you will want the Pepperbox

Okay,so should I get a normal

Okay,so should I get a normal bomb, like the one I have,to pair with it?Or should I get a shadow or elemental bomb with it?I think I'll temporarily. go with the Blitz Needle line.I'll try to finalize my opinion about opinions before going to 5*.Or my current opinion about Blitz Needle.

im vohtarak, call me by that name

the blitz needle charge kills anything and everything in game (but dont try it in lockdown) making it one of the most OP and overused weapon in game
and for a bomb, stick it the blast bomb/neutrinos line, it a a good start
maybe get a shivermist on the side for those deeper levels

bomb

Determinedelephant, are you just asking about general bombs to obtain? Dark Briar Barrage and Dark Retribution are the obvious answers. Very powerful, party-friendly, and easy to use.

Or are you planning a specific loadout consisting of two weapons: Blitz Needle (at some star level) and a bomb? Then Nitronome is a good idea, although it can annoy your teammates. Voltaic Tempest, Stagger Storm, and Shivermist Buster can coordinate with your Blitz Needle by controlling crowds.
