Discuss the subject of trolling. Does the majority rule or can this be changed?

I appreciate the feedback, but I think the replies are going the wrong way. I know Gremlin Chatter is all fun and games, but please understand this is a serious discussion.

I think really that the biggest thing that I've come to realize is that the purpose of the world is the death of individualism. It is less that this was the intent behind the various systems that we use on a daily basis, and more that this is how those systems begin to function when left in practice, and that the fulfillment of those systems is what we are and thus should all be working towards. To that end, "trolling" is exactly the way that I should behave.

Eh.

My view on trolling is that whoever is affected by it can look back on the situation and think "That was an overreaction from me" and get a chuckle themselves. So many people think that being mean or rude is "trolling", when it is just being a bully.

Trolls don't hurt others to better themselves... They make others look ridiculous by pulling the right strings.

Being a bully is always a no-go from me. But a true troll, even against me, is something I can come to enjoy.

I'm vohtarak, call me by that name

I agree with fangel
trolling is less bully and more trickster
go to lockdown if you want to see both up close
(the troll usually gets someone mad and they start to yell at the troll(usually over dancing on a corpse))

Dancing over a corpse is a taunt. Trolls tend to annoy without logical reason. An example of trolling would be this or this

what what

"Trolling" is a meaningless buzzword thrown around on the internet to describe virtually anything.
Funposting? "lol trolling"
Being an ass? "lol u maid master trole here"
Trying to get some recognition in a minigame that only a select few people play any more? "LOL IM THE TROLL KING"

Pretty much.

A good troll is someone who doesn't make lives terrible, or ruin relationships. The word has become more of a "lol u mad" meaning to the younger generation who will simply eat up the words without understanding the actions behind it. They try to reproduce it but not understanding how it works butcher the words. That plus kids are really mean, mostly because they don't have most of the breaks and empathy to realize what they're doing is mean and/or has consequences.

A troll can make someone mad, but will not bully them. The person who got mad is mad on their own accord, and the troll simply pulled the right strings. Hence, the whole "u mad" statement is how a troll announces their intentions or success. A good troll will also usually make someone mad over trivial things that, if you step out of your shoes, sound ridiculous. "I'm arguing with a stranger halfway across the world over the play style they have adopted in a video game; a style which will not affect me at all because I'm not playing the game with them" is an example I'd assume everyone here has seen.

Being a bully is not trolling. However, a troll can become a bully. If the strings you pull are direct insults, harm, and threats in an attempt to make your target get mad, that is being a malicious troll and a bully. The term "troll" doesn't really mean bully, but it's not uncommon for someone attempting to be a troll to be a bully and then call themselves a troll, or have others unfamiliar with the term "troll" call them a troll.
People seem to forget that words like "bully" exist when they enter middle school, and the terms seem "childish". Even after leaving middle school people forget that word. However, even among adults, bullying is still very real.
