There's only one (non needle) piercing gun , which is the magnus
How do you fight beasts as a gunslinger
If you don't want to swallow your pride and go with other weapons, those are your only options in addition to shadow and normal guns. Now, I'm not a gunslinger so I can't give you much advice but I can give you some thoughts.
The problem with Autoguns is that they root you in place if you use the charge, and that's super dangerous against Wolvers since they react to bullets and can move around you and bite your butt before you're done firing. So if you do use Autoguns vs Wolvers, I reckon it's preferable to use the regular shots instead of the much more used charge. However, if you only have one or two Wolvers left, you can use the charge with auto target while standing really close to them to knock them down before they can react to your bullets and they'll be dead very quickly.
As for Magnuses, those are quite good vs Wolvers since they easily knock them down. The bullets are the fastest bullets in Spiral Knights, which is another big pro. You should avoid firing the full clip, though. Since it roots you in place, you may take hits as Wolvers teleport to you and bite your butt before you can move again.
As for other guns, I wouldn't say that there are any very good ones for Wolver. The problem is that Wolvers really aren't easy to fight with guns in comparison to the other two weapon classes. If you do choose to go with another weapon type to deal with them, the absolutely best choice is the bomb Dark Briar Barrage. If you want a sword instead, I recommend Final Flourish or Barbarous Thorn Blade.
charge a needle gun and either as they attack or just after release it into their back or face, you either knock them down or kill them depending on the guns level
You can use a Magnus if you don't plan on emptying the clip.
If you are at 3 star rank then getting an Antigua is a good idea.
Needle guns are ok but you will more often than not get killed by those that dodge.
The best thing to do is to craft a 4 star Spike shower bomb and just use it with a CTR boosting pet perk, that way you can run your gunner set and still have up to VH ctr.
I managed to buy a ASI Low + CTR Low autogun, which is now a *4 strike needle. Combined with the usual ASI gunner armor and a Swifty shield, I can *usually* empty my clip into a pack of wolvers and move again before they bite me. That's good enough to handle wolver levels on Tier 3.
If I don't feel like charging, I can also run in circles and spam non-charged needle shots. That works too, but it takes a bit longer.
Not many people know this but
Valiance + Callahan(Or any of the previous line weapons)
With high damage by yourself(needs max damage in parties of 3 or more), you can make a wolver "pop" into the air with a shot from a Callahan. While it's recovering a valiance is fast enough to sneak in one or two shots if you have enough speed on your current set.
This also works for fiends not including Trojans and greavers. Although, I don't know how a piercing gun remedies any of this if they're weaker than a Callahan to stun/flinch a dodging enemy.
Just get a 4* flourish and use it until you reach vanaduke.
Wolvers can not evade when barking or biting. You don't need to use the Blitz death ray charge every time.
Probably the best gun for fighting beasts would be the Blitz Needle, which you get by having a Strike Needle which is level 10. Wolvers' and other beasts, such as chromalisks are weak against piercing, so you will have a fun time annihilating them. :)
The next time the Tortodrone event comes around, you could follow the alchamy path to make the Autogun -> Wild Buster -> Feral Cannon -> Savage Tortofist. Grab that sucker and start Falcon-punching some Wolvers :D
No, tried the savage fist and I still find that Blitz Needle is superior, just hold a charge and wait for them to teleport behind you, easy peasy.
@Ferro-Magnus
There's nothing inherently 'wrong' with suggesting a not-yet-mentioned piercing gun, so I'm not really sure how to interpret that. No comparisons were made, nor were any yes/no questions posed.
@Topic
Anyways, give a try to Wolver punching. It's a blast. Valiance is also a good all-purpose weapon for dedicated gunners, and given Wolvers' tendancies to group up a good Biohazard shot could be fun too.
Now if you're actually looking for efficient, Blitz is your only current option--sadly, Blitzing everything in the game gets old pretty quick. If the supposed gunner update ever does get released there should be at least two more piercing guns (that I know of), both of which could handle beasts just fine.
I kinda miss the old Sentenza, back when it was Piercing/Shadow. Unfortunately with the way damage bonuses and penalties stack up, it was only useful against 2/6 of the families.
Regardless of being pure or split damage they still are/were Super effective against 2 families, neutral to 2 families, and resisted by 2 families.
They probably gave this change to make Vana a bit harder (AP could pepper vana with effective damage and it made trojans easier back then) and to make room for the new (non-event) antigua (from the gunner update).
As I stated before get a Spike Shower, it's a 4star pierceing bomb (considered one of the best bomb lines in game), keep it at 4 star for the CTR and use a sprite perk to get even more CTR.
Sticking to just one weapon in the game is silly, this game rewards those with a large arsenal and an open mind.
@Holy-Nightmare
The problem with the old Sentenza and AP were that the reductions from resisting were greater than the super effective bonus, so in situations with Sentenza like shooting Devilites (+ from piercing, - from shadow) or Jellies (+ from shadow, - from piercing) what should have been normal damage actually ended up being less than normal. It was effective against 2 families, minor-resisted by 2, and full resisted by 2.
This isn't a problem anymore, as after the Antigua and Shard Bomb reworks there are no more split damage weapons like that. The only split weapons now are half normal.
Lol. And now the split normal weapons are broken. At least the brandishes are. DA and Faust are fine..
I'm not that old (CE old) but I do pick up on stuff fast. I do remember reading about how AP and Sentenza used to be split damage and have seen old Vana battles where the AP did effective damage.
Naturally as a Veteran from Pokemon series I assumed the damage from weak and resistant types would neutralize each other and deal normal damage. (An Electric move on a split Flying/Dragon type would be neither weak nor effective since one type resists and the other is weak)
@ Rare
Shards are now practically useless and antiguas have lost their anti-fiend/beast capabilities in place of slime/construct boosts. It's a pity that a 5 star piercing antigua wasn't introduced with this change (hopefully the gunner update comes faster and we will get this gun).
Shards are generally considered to be some of the worst weapons in the game and Antiguas don't really fill a niche anymore, as they're obsoleted by Alchemers provided the user has some form of skill with it. Removing the unique split damage wasn't necessary at all, they could have just adjusted the damage values.
Just wait for the gunner update. The new piercing Antigua line should be able to kick their butt before they note your butt

I hav a ctr high antigua ready, its been there for over a year, useless
If you want to use Blitz, always let yourself be cornered. This allows all your enemies to be in front and in the way of your charge attack.
Also...
Valiance is love, Valiance is life.
The thing about beasts is that they're slow and derpy compared to most other enemies due to their inability to turn their head 15 degrees when attacking.
1. Wait until they're attacking and you're out of the way of their bite; usually by sidestepping once.
2. BLITZ NEEDLE!!!!!!!!!
The upside to blitz needle is that you should be crafting one anyway for firestorm citadel, which you will inevitably want to craft a loadout for at some point. You can use callahan if you'd really like to, which holds you down after every shot and makes them flinch repeatedly. It does an acceptable job against the beasts, though is a bit stiff and underwhelming; it does the same damage as supernova's expanded bullets, but makes you stand still to fire at a much slower rate, and has a much worse charge than supernova. The gunner update (should that not be canceled) could attempt to balance callahan, but I wouldn't count on that to save you.
Speaking of supernova though, you can actually fight beasts with its charge, though I wouldn't recomend making that your main beast weapon without at least trying it first with a heated pulsar+maxed out CTR. It's a questionable tactic to be sure.
Failing these, you can always just craft dark briar barrage and spam that to win as it basically just ends them. You can also use acheron on them, if you're really having trouble with them.
