Are they ever going to be adding new things to fight in this game? Or more areas you can go to?

See http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Release/all for a history of new content in this game. Content was added quickly in the first year or so, and then tailed off. That's why there are continually threads in General Discussion about the need for new content.
My advice is: Finish the game, including Shadow Lairs and a decent sampling of weapon types. Then go on hiatus, returning only when there is new content. This is what many veteran players do.
Eventually, yes... as to how long that'll actually take, nobody's really sure. The arcade redux has already been in development for quite some time, and sounds like one of the most promising content patches yet.
