How many crowns is each minute in SK worth?

They say time is money...
Obviously, nobody will spent every minute farming crowns, so let's assume the standard is a "bot" that starts off as a recruit and wants to maximize the amount of crowns earned every minute by playing SK like a normal person (must progress through missions to advance, etc.). After some time, the bot should fall into some sort of pattern that produces the maximum rate of crown intake.

What is that rate in terms of crowns per minute?

Now assume 8k crowns can net you 100 energy. How much USD* worth of time have you deposited into this game?

*I'm f2p so I don't know what's the conversion rate between energy and U.S dollars.

Vet's optimal time

A thread was made to this effect awhile back. A few math geeks went and ran the numbers in-depth and all that... I'll tell you that the pay is lousy though.

Back when they ran the numbers, the best amount someone was getting paid farming the most profitable level as a veteran that logged in every time was around $2.25/hr USD and that's kicking the living carp out of everything in their wake and not getting stuck in any buggy/miscalculated situations.

They turned and recalculated to err on the side of caution and essentially said that $2/hr was the absolute best you would make off the game. That was when energy was fluxing between 6-8k not just 8k flat.

Optimally grinding the money is difficult. But I know some vendors probably eek out a decent $4/hr when they have a good rng day/ an event comes out that everybody likes. But they've probably invested a good $500 worth of energy into the game by that point (be it with a card or their own keylogging).

Games typically will not lend themselves to letting the players get paid unless they have massive playerbase and the player is someone who metagames and meta-markets in their sleep. That guy who made 10k playing Diablo 3 was practically shut-in for the vast majority of his time making that money.

If someone tells you they make money playing videogames.... videogames are their job. Simply put, once you get to the point you're making a wage off a game, you're probably not enjoying it half as much anymore.

I don't know, but the most lucrative way to play is probably a combination of:

* Speed-run Operation Crimson Hammer (Tier 3) to get fragments to make Perfect Mask of Seerus, which you vendor for 30,000 crowns. You're making at least 8,300 crowns per run just from this. But it requires spare Eternal Orbs of Alchemy.

* Speed-run Firestorm Citadel when you don't have enough Eternal Orbs lying around?

So, if you can figure out how much time these speed runs take you, then you can figure out your crowns per hour, and then convert to USD per hour.

Edit: I left out reselling Basil-only recipes. That can earn you some good money, but it requires knowledge, can be hit-or-miss, and stops working if everybody does it.

I think that an average player speedrunning vanaduke would earn about 8k crowns in about 30-40 mins a run, I've never taken my time to do this kind of stuff, but eh, thats my estimate, about 200 energy per hour of constant farming, it depends a lot on the player though.

I have to say that people don't play games to earn profit and see how much crowns they have sitting in their inventories nor they will be willing to sacrifice countless hours of farming a single level all the time, people play games to have fun, earning valuables and "money" if you want to call it so, is just a small part of the game, no one would spend 100% of their time in this game focused only on that aspect.

You could estimate how much an item is really worth on crowns/energy given the time you need to invest in order get it I guess, but since a lot of things in this game rely on chances, those calculations will probably not be as useful or accurate, the most valuable items in the game get their worth of money based on rarity rather than time spent to be obtained. An estimation of the ammount of time an item is worth given the price it sells at would be an interesting thing to look at nonetheless.

You guys didn't take into account materials that can be sold. Or would that not make much of a difference?

I'm asking this questions not to consider the possibility of people making real money off of the game, but to consider how much real money worth of time the average person spends playing SK.
How much time does purchasing $20 worth of energy save you? What is the price tag SK puts on the effort you spend on the game?

I don't know the best way to answer your questions. I don't really sell materials, so I lose out on a lot of money. On the other hand, when battle sprites were introduced, I could effortlessly feed my sprite to level 105 quickly. So the tradeoffs are a little tricky to compute. Anyway, this question caught my attention:

What is the price tag SK puts on the effort you spend on the game?

A substantial fraction of SK players never put any real money into the game. Three Rings presumably doesn't mind. These non-paying players enrich the game environment, by populating Haven, contributing to guilds, leading parties in the Clockworks, and playing PvP. In essence, the non-paying players contribute to the entertainment of the paying players. This fact affects (or even determines) the reward system for time spent playing the game.

I'm vohtarak, call me by that name

OCH on any difficulty gives you around 8k
so when I see a party I instantly join it
I've got like 44 orbs (I find them like every 2 days)
and the masks are a really good source of income

Vana alt runs take 40

Vana alt runs take 40 minutes

Taking into account tokens, thats 22k in 40 minutes (40 mins as best).

So 22k + 11k crowns is how much you make per hour alt farming vanaduke.

400 energy per hour.

@Aviri

30 minutes is a normal vana runtime (about 8k in one run).
speedrunning would net around 6k in 25 mins (less efficient)

my 2 cents

I would make a bot for farming easier stuff like JK but flawlessly rather than FSC buggy....

You can put a DR, Voltaic Tempest and a Nitronome to get everything done.... Farming vana is kinda hard while being fast, unlike JK...

10/15 mins per JK, 3k cr? 4k cr? nets FSC profit... (tokens are worth less though)
