I know this has been posted to death (again, sorry D:), but it doesn't make sense to me that eternal orbs of alchemy are so common compared to the other orb types. Might a better system be to spread the lower orbs into the higher tiers (to an extent). i.e.
Instead of
S1 - 1*
S2 - 2*
S3 - 3*
S4 - 4*
S5 - 5*
S6 - 5*
use
S1 - 1/2*
S2 - 1/2/3*
S3 - 2/3/4*
S4 - 3/4*
S5 - 3/4/5*
S6 - 4/5*
with the same overall drop rates ('orb' drop rate stays the same, with the type of orb being randomly chosen from those available to that stratum).
This distribution would also solve (IMO) the issue of 5* orbs being so common, and would better reflect the drop pattern for fire crystals.

Your idea seems quite reasonable. However, any serious proposal for altering the game's progress or economy must be accompanied by at least some discussion of how the change would affect Three Rings' revenue. A good starting question is: What fraction of revenue still comes from energy sales, as opposed to promotional prize box sales?
