My looked-into opinion: It's done. So why are we waiting? Simple, they're working on the Arcade redux + other stuff. That's why they delayed - OOO thought the gunner update alone won't be really special content so they decided to add special content, which is taking a long time.

But that's just speculation until they mention something about it.

EDIT: Oh wait, you have sources? Where exactly on the forums/what game files support this?

algorithms are the solutions to any problem.

sorry, until you show proof that the source code for the guns in the preview server wasn't changed in a while I will not believe that the gunner update is ready. how do you get that proof? that's your problem.

on a serious note, I dont think rebalancing guns took a year, so yeah, they have been working on something.

For proof, dig through Spiral Spy yourself... They have all the gun models done.

Nothing to see here guyse it's just another of anderson's 100% made up predictions and "theories" (yea rite) one day he will nail it, if he keeps making alot of them yes ofc.

The models are done, but are they ready? Have the coders finished "balancing" everything? Are they set for release? Could they have altered already present mechanics since the last Preview Server? We don't know. But that's why we need proof, but you can't.

Models aren't enough proof for being ready. Models aren't enough proof for being ready. Models aren't enough proof for being ready.

Sweet-Hope: then the gunner update has been finished a long time ago.

Aviri: Perhaps yes.... I will nail them for sure, like this one. Welcome to my mind. There is a secret message in this sentence. Hope you can find it.

Cross-Over: They're done I'm sure. If it wasn't then OOO probably broke the record for taking the longest time working on balancing guns... Pessimism < Optimism

@Anders

If they're done, I just hope they've been productive on other things instead of, well, standalone mechanics. Heck, where's that thread... the one about the gradual display of new gunner mechanics through the prize boxes because of the amount of bugs and problems it would make for them if they were to make it one big update? (Then again, it's just speculations and theories at this point...)

Still, Arcade Redux... I'd rather go with that so I don't get bored farming JK or Vana all day, more or less PK.

You silly- I can't dig through the files and post about it. That's against at least the forum rules that have been applied to me. Even if I have more proof for your argument than you do, I'm going to disagree with you here because that is what I would do if I did not have that evidence.

So before I believe that they have models of the guns or anything else for that matter, I am going to request further proof than just "look in the game files".

But, even if they did have the models for the new guns done, how can you back up statements like-

"they're working on the Arcade redux + other stuff"

"OOO thought the gunner update alone won't be really special content so they decided to add special content, which is taking a long time"

Fehzor: Sorry to disappoint you. Okay, fine, the Arcade Redux is a wild guess. They could be working on other updates. New missions, new T3 boss level... Anything. I know game developers. They love to storm content at once to gives the players a long time exploring the update package. Developers like it when a lot of players are playing.

As for the second quote, I stepped in OOO's shoes for a bit, thinking for the players. Combining the paragraph above, one can see that by only releasing something simple like an update featuring guns and maybe a lame gun promo will not stall players, and thus, OOO wants to release numerous additions at once to stall players.

Yes, more than just guns is what we would hope is happening. Nick told us quite a long time ago that they were working on more, but have not mentioned whether that more is still being worked on, or whether they've moved on or... anything, for that matter. Hence, what you are saying is nothing more than your own speculation- which is fine, but we've heard it before and you're advertising these beliefs as fact.

Well

You DID spoil one of the guns, even if it isn't really a spoiler at this point.
It's still a weapon not officially released, so technically, it's a "spoiler".

sure you found models, but models are looks, not mechanics
and some of the guns charges didn't do damage in LD, I read that somewhere

Cross-Over: Deleted that bit.

Mystrian: nothing is wrong with mentioning Spiral Spy if it's not giving anything away.

Oohnorak: It's been quite the long while since testing the guns. What I think OOO did after the gun testing is they made some small changes to the guns from using the players' suggestions and left the mechanics at that.

my 2 cents

The Gunner Update happened on the Preview server and costed 10$ to play with it during a full two days

That's my definition of the Gunner Update... It never gonna hit and was a two days deal

Edit: The gun name, model and dmg type has been "leaked" about 8 months ago and the preview server showed them under working condition. They have been there for a good amount of time and if you are REALLY into it, you can modify the files of your SK so that your alchemer looks like the new blasters....

The gunner update has been on the works for about a year and a half already, It has probably been finished a long time ago, but it's most likely cancelled or the truth of why it isn't released yet will have a very negative impact on the community, thus explaining why there is not a word being said about it.

Lets be honest here, the only reason they could have not to talk about it even when the community is demanding for an answer so much is that we are not going to like the answer.

Ignorance is disease x.x

I can guess from most of the comments in here you guys have no idea how game development works.

Yes its ture that they are taking so long which it can be a pain but developing games takes a very minimum of mouths ,im not trying to cover up for OOO but I can bet there is more hidden work going on that what you all might except but i sort of also blame OOO for not being active with the community ,i mean its ok if you want to surprise the players with new content but at least have some dev talking about the game or what did work or not at least that shows that im playing a game which is 'ALIVE' and not abandoned by the gm.

Arcade redux= around 3-4 working moths of scripting and working
Challenge mode=around 3-4 working months
Gunner Update=3-4 working months
Story like working= around 2-3 months
Game models improvements=around 1 month
Fixing=testing 3 weeks+

so if you see it sort of does make sense even if they are quite slow in terms of development :P

You are a disease my friend, you are.

So, you do know how development works? where are you pulling your time schemes from? are you developing this game? how can you make such claims if you have no idea what they are doing?

Besides we're talking about the gunner update here buddy, idk why you had to line all that other stuff in there, you also implying that you have an idea that they're working on all that stuff at the same time with nothing to back yourself up.

see, it is these kind of claims that take all seriousness of what you've just said away, and you are also avoiding answering to this thing I said here

"the only reason why they could have not to talk about it even when the community is demanding for an answer so much is that we are not going to like the answer"

what reason could they have not to say something about their works?

algorithms are the solutions to any problem.

because if the gunner update is already ready and they release it, they will be scolded for waiting so much while working on something else, and if they wait, well, more guys like you will come onto the forums to complain. it's a lose-lose situation that they put themselves in when they decided that releasing only the gunner update was a bad idea, or that working to release everything they planned at once was a good idea.
if the gunner update was cancelled they have all the reasons to come out and say "it's not coming because..., we are now working on...", because if they don't release the gunner update after making a test server on it the players will explode in rage saying "you had it almost right 6 months ago, why did you stop developing it?" (possibly without spaces).

They are not developing a game though. They are working on a small part of the game. Anyway...can't we at least have a sort of developer log just to see how things are progressing. One member of the team has to peek through the keyhole and see what's going on, then simply post a few lines for us to read.

Want to make your fan base happy, that's definitely one way.
