I know that a lot of people want PvP, but what about GvG (guild v guild)? It could be a tournament style sort of thing with different goals (which guild can get the most crowns/mats/depths completed) in a set amount of time.
Not PvP, but.....

I don't like the timing idea, but some sort of Guild leaderboard might be a nice little feature. Even that would be rather staid, though, as the largest Guild will always be ahead by default.

Actually there were one-week leaderboards in the beta for PvP, which means every week the leaderboard is wiped and it gives a chance to all guilds to actually get on the leaderboards.

GvG leaderboard
The GvG leaderbord could be split into brackets by size.
Small guilds of ten or fewer members are "featherweights," guilds with 11 to 25 are "lightweights," 26 to 50 are "middleweights", 51 to 75 are "heavyweights" and 76 to 100 are "super heavyweights" (or something along those lines).
Sounds a bit too hardcore for this game. Most guilds are very casual, this sort of thing wouldn't mean much to them.
